    BACKGROUND

    SEG has formed a team to pursue the Advanced Radar In-Service support contract at Navy Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme (NSWC PHD).  This effort is to establish a technical infrastructure to oversee the fielding and readiness of Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA) radars in surface Navy.  This fundamentally new architecture (for surface Navy) is represented by the Dual-Band Radar (DBR) on an aircraft carrier, the Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR, AN/SPY-6) on Flight III Destroyers, and the Enterprise Air Surveillance Radar (EASR)-and AMDR variant in two different configurations) on aircraft carriers, amphibious ships and future frigates.

    JOB DESCRIPTION: 

    Systems Engineering Group, Inc. (SEG) has a job opening for a full-time senior scientist to support the growing technical needs of the Navy’s advanced radars including the Enterprise Air Surveillance Radar (EASR) and other Advanced Navy radar programs including Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) and Dual Band radar (DBR). SEG is seeking knowledgeable candidates wanting a challenging career in this important naval area that will have a direct impact on our nation’s national defense.   Responsibilities will include:

    • Subject matter expert supporting the lead government official in charge of the Advanced Radar fleet introduction and sustainment effort
    • Support the government Contracting Officer over the three primary radar areas and assist with solving all technical strategic and tactical level issues facing the various programs.
    • Works with all Task Leads to achieve maximum leverage in operational, threat, vulnerability, and future capability analyses identifying the risks and opportunities of highest impact across the Advanced Radar space
    • Identifying system level concerns and solutions
    • Working with peers in related radar areas to develop consistent procedures

    Required Skills

    REQUIREMENTS:

     

    EDUCATION:  PhD in a science field, masters with related experience may qualify

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 

     

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
    • Ability to problem solve and a foundation in physics will be an advantage in this position
    • Ability to work well with a team
    • Use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Logistics experience or sustainment engineering experience

     

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

    • ACTIVE DoD Secret Clearance
    • 10 years in Life or Physical science
    • Familiarity with Department of Defense Military Systems
    • Familiarity with naval radar systems
