    SUMMARY: The person in this position will be under the direct supervision of the RN/LPN, and will be expected to assist residents with ADL''s as needed, help with meal time, hydration and keeping the resident room''s and center in clean, organized order and complete related tasks as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist all residents with showers, and grooming, assisting residents with brushing their teeth, and brushing their hair.
    • Making sure that all residents are dressed appropriately.
    • Professionally deal with residents, their family members, the resident''s physician, pharmacy and staff. This does not includes residents who ask many questions, you must notify nurse/administrator and have them speak to resident, family members.
    • Bring residents down to meals or assure they are notified of the times of meals. Responsible for your section and your residents.
    • Any resident who needs assistance with toileting should be toileted every two hours and immediately after every meal.
    • Communicate immediately any changes in resident to the nurse/Administrator.
    • Be sure to pass out hydration and snack at the appropriate times. If your name is on to do this then you must be sure it gets done.
    • If you are working in Memory Lane, be sure to check on residents hourly.
    • Report to Nurse/Administrator any incidents that happen immediately and fill out an incident report. Incident Reports must be filled out completely.
    • Assist with answering call light system. Even if it is not your section, all the residents are everyone''s responsibility.
    • Documentation is a must, you must fill out ADL forms every day before you leave. Random checks will be done, not filling it out may result in disciplinary.
    • All caregivers are responsible for making sure laundry gets done for the residents, if will be completed on the shower days. Take your time and do one resident''s basket at a time. Then take back to the room as soon as possible. Do not leave clothes in washer or dryer, for the next shift.
    • When you are making the bed in the residents'' room, you must empty the trash. Be sure the room is organized, ready for guests. If the bathroom is in need of cleaning write it down and give to housekeeper immediately.
    • If you are a driver you must notify maintenance if vehicles need gas or any problems you may have with them.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT:

    • Work with residents that can sometimes be agitated, violent.
    • Must be in good physical health, and be able to stand on feet for long periods of time, and be able to walk long distances. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Understand, comply with, and promote rules regarding resident''s rights.
    • Maintain an orderly, confidential, and safe work environment; in addition, to HIPPA guidelines.
    • Practice universal precautions at all times.
    • Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Tenth grade education.
    • Must have a genuine interest in geriatric work.
    • Continuing In-Services as needed.
    • Must be organized.
    • Must be able to work well with others.
    • Must be able to multi-task and do several jobs at one time.
    • Must have good people skills and be able to handle stressful situations.
