    JOB TITLE: Patient Care Volunteer Outreach Specialist

    DEPARTMENT: Patient Care Volunteer Department

    REPORTS TO: Patient Care Volunteer Department Manager

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the Patient Care Volunteer Manager, the Outreach Specialist is responsible for assisting the Volunteer Manager in increasing volunteer services to patients, families, and the agency. Key areas of responsibility include networking in the community to recruit new volunteers and build relationships with community partners to enhance the services provided.

    EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum requirements include Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

    Ability to network and develop professional relationships and volunteer referral sources throughout the community.

    Ability to establish relationships with volunteers.

    Ability to perform public speaking in the communities and professional events.

    Must be proficient in a variety of computer software applications including word processing, excel and other software.

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Educate the community about Gulfside Hospice volunteer opportunities.

    Develop relationships with community members to facilitate volunteer referrals and programming to enhance services provided by the agency.

    Assist with new volunteer on boarding and orientation.

    Provide volunteer reports as requested.

    Maintain an accurate volunteer database on an Excel Spreadsheet.

    Coordinate meetings and participate in event planning with the Volunteer Department team.

    Assist with training and assigning volunteers in various functions.

    Maintain effective relationships and communication with volunteers.

    Promote Gulfside Hospice through professional organizations and community development.

    Networks with community partners and organizations.

    Participates in agency events, departmental meetings, on call rotation, and other tasks and projects as needed.

    Provides appropriate documentation of activities in a timely and consistent manner.

    Assists with education for volunteers and community.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

    Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills

    Operation of computer.

    Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening, allowing clear and concise communication with volunteers, staff, patients and families.

    Auditing/Compliance:

    Establishes and maintains an effective system of peer review related to volunteer documentation

    Possesses ability to multi-task; exhibits adaptability and flexibility in meeting Gulfside objectives.

    Ensures compliance with all volunteer recruitment and documentation standards and regulations.

    Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the policies and procedures of the volunteer department; adheres to and assists in the evaluation of the same.

    Maintaining federal and state regulatory compliance

    Mentoring/Education

    Develops, interprets, implements, and supports policies and procedures

    Functions as a resource person; provides mentoring and guidance for co-workers and volunteers

    Customer Service

    Maintains positive working relationships and frequent liaison with other disciplines

    Attends to volunteer concerns if needed

    Creates and promotes initiatives to develop and strengthen relationships with care facility partners

    Takes a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues

    Educates the community regarding hospice care, philosophy, and concept through individual consultation with persons in the community.
