Overview
Help create a summer that children will remember. As a Gymnastics Summer Camp Counselor at Airborne Gymnastics Club USA, you will help lead a fun, safe, high-energy camp experience where children build gymnastics skills, make new friends, grow in confidence, and create meaningful memories.
This role closely resembles our Gymnastics Instructor I position, with added camp responsibilities such as arts and crafts, themed activities, park walks, water days, Fun Fridays, and beforecare/aftercare support. The ideal counselor is patient, kind, dependable, safety-minded, and excited to help children fall in love with gymnastics while feeling cared for and included every day.
Duties & Responsibilities
Gymnastics Instruction & Camp Activities
Assist with warm-ups, stretches, basic gymnastics stations, obstacle courses, games, and beginner skill development.
Help children learn foundational gymnastics skills in a fun, encouraging, and age-appropriate way.
Follow the daily camp schedule and support smooth transitions between gymnastics, snack, lunch, crafts, games, and special activities.
Lead or assist with arts and crafts, themed activities, group games, and team-building exercises.
Help create a positive camp environment where every child feels included, encouraged, and excited to participate.
Child Safety & Supervision
Actively supervise campers at all times, including during gymnastics, crafts, lunch, bathroom breaks, transitions, park walks, water day, and beforecare/aftercare.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for children.
Reinforce camp rules, safety expectations, and positive behavior throughout the day.
Assist with safe equipment setup, use, and clean-up.
Monitor children closely during higher-risk activities such as water day, outdoor play, and walking to the park.
Report injuries, behavior concerns, or safety issues promptly to the Camp Lead, Experience Manager, or Operations Manager.
Park Walks, Water Days & Fun Fridays
Help safely walk groups of children to and from the park, maintaining awareness, group order, and proper supervision ratios.
Assist with set-up, supervision, and clean-up for water day activities.
Support themed Fun Fridays, including games, crafts, gymnastics challenges, special activities, and camper celebrations.
Encourage participation while being mindful of children who may need extra support, reassurance, or redirection.
Beforecare & Aftercare Responsibilities
Assist with camper check-in and check-out during beforecare and aftercare.
Greet families warmly and help children transition into or out of camp smoothly.
Supervise quiet games, crafts, movies, reading, free play, or structured activities during extended care.
Ensure only authorized adults pick up campers and follow all sign-in/sign-out procedures.
Behavior Support & Conflict Resolution
Use patience, kindness, and calm redirection to support positive behavior.
Help children work through conflicts respectfully and safely.
Encourage teamwork, sharing, friendship, and good sportsmanship.
Support children who may feel nervous, overwhelmed, tired, or left out.
Model positive language, empathy, and encouragement at all times.
Cleaning & Daily Operations
Help set up and put away mats, equipment, games, craft supplies, lunch areas, and camp materials.
Assist with daily cleaning, including wiping down equipment, tidying activity areas, sweeping/vacuuming, and keeping bathrooms and common areas presentable.
Help maintain camper belongings, lost-and-found areas, and supply organization.
Follow Airborne policies and procedures for safety, supervision, communication, and professionalism.
Maintain friendly parent interaction before and after classes; answer basic program questions.
Enter hours promptly and maintain personal payroll data.

Organizational Structure
Part‐time/hourly position on the coaching team; reports to Experience Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Prior experience in gymnastics, cheer, dance, camp, childcare, education, recreation, or youth programming preferred.
Ability to assist with beginner gymnastics skills, warm-ups, games, and structured activities.
Strong commitment to child safety, active supervision, and positive behavior management.
Able to resolve minor conflicts calmly and kindly.
Dependable, punctual, energetic, and team-oriented.
Comfortable leading arts and crafts, group games, themed activities, and camp transitions.
Able to work indoors and outdoors, including park walks and water day activities.
Able to lift/move light gymnastics equipment, craft supplies, tables, chairs, and camp materials as needed.
Must pass a background check.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Additional Notes:
Expect to work between 15 and 30 hours per week
