Lab Technician III
Vadnais Heights, MN
The Lab Technician III reports to the Laboratory Technical Service Manager. The successful candidate will be a part of H.B. Fuller’s Americas Insulating Glass team and will be stationed at our Willow Lake facility. The candidate will be responsible for the construction of insulating glass (IG) units, product inventory, and equipment maintenance at the IG Center of Excellence (CoE). This position will also be supporting IG failure root cause analyses, product characterization, and research and development efforts. The candidate will have a focus on unit construction but will be cross trained to support laboratory tasks as workload fluctuates.
Description:
Must be able to perform complex laboratory and applications tasks and procedures accurately and expeditiously.
Must demonstrate ability to communicate well with fellow employees, suppliers and customers.
Must have the ability to problem-solve with minimal direction.
Take ownership of assigned technical service requests.
Document work, provide status updates, communicate with requestor(s).
Coordinate construction and testing of insulating glass units (IGUs) for product testing and customer needs.
Execute application/laboratory test plans to support material characterization, process characterization, and root cause analysis.
Manage equipment, product & supplies in the CoE
Maintain product & supply inventory
Preventative maintenance on equipment
Shipment of IGUs, sample products, and supplies to and from the CoE
Room cleanliness
Support standardization/5S of equipment and processes
Prepare laboratory test specimens as needed
Support physical property testing of internal and external products
Support quality and cost savings initiatives
