Overview: Habitat for Humanity Chicago (Habitat Chicago) is a nonprofit organization that works to champion healthy neighborhoods by investing in resident priorities, supporting homeownership, and building quality homes. Position Summary: The Campaign Coordinator assumes primary responsibility for supporting Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s development staff and volunteer leadership team in carrying out a campaign. The Campaign Coordinator reports to the Development Director and works closely with professional campaign counsel in setting up systems and implementing strategies and management plans to effectively coordinate campaign responsibilities.
Key Responsibility: Campaign Support & Coordination (80%)
Support the Executive Director, Development Director, and the broader team’s major gifts outreach, including supporting strategy development, coordinating outreach, and developing proposals, to maximize donor-facing meetings and activities with prospects.
Work closely with the Development Director and campaign counsel to define campaign priorities, support campaign activities, and track progress towards the campaign timeline.
Manage campaign volunteer activities through meeting scheduling, agenda and materials preparation, recording of meeting minutes, and follow-up.
Develop customized donor campaign communication and leverage existing communication to ensure donors and prospects are consistently and purposefully engaged.
Assist staff, Board, and committee members with prospect outreach, including drafting correspondence and conducting basic prospect research.
In partnership with administrative staff, manage the scheduling and logistics for campaign donor visits.
Serve as a liaison between campaign donors and Habitat Chicago and assist donors with questions pertaining to their gifts.
Coordinate all donor recognition activities and campaign records management.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Key Responsibility: Annual Fund & Planned Giving Support (10%)
Provide support to the Associate Director, Development with annual fund tasks such as drafting or editing appeal letters, conducting prospect research, or assisting with the Collaborative Operating Model (COM) direct marketing or major gifts programs by attending meetings or reviewing donor lists.
Assist with creating content for potential planned giving donors, and work with the Associate Director, Development to develop a planned giving strategy.
Assist with stewardship tasks, such as writing thank-you notes and making calls, as well as editing content for gift receipt letters.

As a key Development Team member, contribute to our organizational health through enthusiastic collaboration, leadership and personal integrity.

Contribute enthusiastically to all organization’s events, helping as necessary with set up/take down, management, networking, various tasks, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
High level of computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to respond to inquiries promptly and appropriately.
Ability to conduct donor research and synthesize information into concise written profiles and summaries.
Self-motivated, detail oriented, highly organized.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize concurrent projects and day to day tasks within a fast-paced environment.
Experience with successful project management and effectively leading projects start to finish.
Personable, donor-oriented; ease with working with others and with delegating.
Must work well under pressure and with changing priorities.
Enthusiasm for nonprofit development work and willingness to proactively seek best practices and new ideas.
Commitment to problem solving, continuous improvement, curiosity and personal development.
Understanding and enthusiasm for Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s mission and vision.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
One to three years of development or relevant experience.

Position Details
Reports To: Development Director
Hours: Full-time; 8am-4pm plus evening and weekend meetings as required.
Environment: The Habitat Chicago office is located at Cermak Rd. and Carpenter St. in Chicago. It is accessible by car or by public transit. This position will have a desk, computer, and phone line in an open office environment.
Conditions: Must be able to lift 25 pounds and work at a computer for long periods of time.
Compensation: Hourly position ranging from $20.50 – $22.00 an hour, depending on experience. 30+ vacation/sick/personal days per year. 90% employer paid health insurance; access to dental, vision, life and 401k plans.
FLSA Status: This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). It does not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
Training: The position will begin with an onboarding period to become familiar with the organization’s work and policies; they will be trained on the specifics of the role through a combination of in-person, online and written trainings and will be expected to take the initiative to review materials as needed and seek understanding of new developments in order to perform their responsibilities.
