    We are currently accepting applications for a Substitute Teachers

    3- and 6-month contracts available

    Salary: Beginning at $20 per hour

    Under direction of the Director of Education the Substitute Teacher assumes all duties of the regular classroom Teacher promptly and in accordance with Facility/Academy policies and procedures. Follows the instructions left by the Teacher/Director of Education. Check to ensure that there are sufficient supplies in the classroom to carry out lesson plans. Maintain normal classroom routines and discipline procedures. Spends the entire assignment working with and for the students/residents, remaining in the classroom with students/residents at all times. The Substitute Teacher is expected to carry out the instructions of the regular teacher, including grading daily papers and leaving a summary of work covered.

    When assigned by the Director of Education, the Substitute Teacher updates IEPs quarterly and keeps accurate grade book with at least two grades per week. Keeps attendance records for each student, generates report card for assigned students every quarter and at the end of summer session. Attends staffings for students, as available.

    The Substitute Teacher arrives each day at 8:00 A.M. and works the full teacher’s day until 4:30 P.M. (May work less than a full day, as needed.) Works professionally and collaboratively with all education department staff. Clearly writes documentation of services provided in clinical record.

    Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies. Maintains CPR/First Aid/AED and Handle with Care certifications. Maintains strict confidentiality and privacy of residents’ personally identifiable health and personnel information in accordance with HIPAA privacy rules and facility policies. Meets mandatory staff development requirements per the standards of all regulatory and accrediting agencies.


    Expected Hours of Work:

    40 hours per week for length of contract

    Requirements:

    • Baccalaureate degree required; Special Education preferred. OR Master’s degree in Education preferred, Special Education preferred.
    • Prior experience with children or adolescents with disabilities in a classroom or behavioral healthcare setting.
    • Must have valid Virginia Driver’s License in good standing if on Hallmark’s Approved Driver’s List
