We are currently accepting applications for an AUTHORIZATION SPECIALIST to communicate clinical mental health information to managed care/insurance companies and payer services to obtain authorization for treatment services. Candidates must be familiar with admissions pre-certification process as well as concurrent and discharge reviews. Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, substance abuse and mental health disorders, DMS criteria and ICD-10 diagnosis codes is necessary for the success of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Associates degree or higher in mental health or related field from accredited college or university, strongly preferred.
• Minimum of three years of varied professional clinical experience in mental health services with adolescents.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• Competency in healthcare information technology
• Proficient in MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook
• Able to interpret both CMS, DMAS and Virginia State Licensing standards for documentation.
• Demonstrated clinical competence in documentation of resident progress.
• Must be self-directed, flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation.
• Skilled in auditing records.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with individuals and groups; competent in writing routine reports and correspondence; excellent telephone etiquette.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
