Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a variety of construction equipment, including excavators, asphalt screeds, asphalt rollers, loaders, and bulldozers. The operator will be responsible for performing excavation, grading, paving, material handling, and site preparation activities while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently, including:
- Excavators
- Asphalt Screeds
- Asphalt Rollers
- Front-End Loaders
- Bulldozers
- Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and earthmoving operations.
- Operate paving equipment to assist with asphalt placement and compaction.
- Grade surfaces according to project plans and specifications.
- Load, transport, and stockpile construction materials.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic preventive maintenance.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, defects, or safety hazards.
- Follow site plans, grade stakes, and instructions from supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and jobsite procedures.
- Maintain accurate equipment operation logs and maintenance records.
- Assist crew members with general construction tasks as needed.
- Work effectively with project managers, foremen, and other construction personnel to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
- Experience operating excavators, screeds, rollers, loaders, and bulldozers.
- Knowledge of grading, excavation, paving, and site preparation techniques.
- Ability to read site plans, grade stakes, and construction drawings.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and equipment operation procedures.

- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and occasional night shifts as required.
