    HERS Advisors is seeking an HR Compliance Specialist for a prominent national law firm based in downtown Los Angeles.

    The HR Compliance Specialist is focused on ensuring that HR policies and procedures are in compliance with local, state and federal ordinances, regulations and laws. The HR Compliance Specialist is also responsible for organizational safety and emergency planning, training and related exercises and drills. The HR Compliance Specialist proactively monitors, interprets and implements changes in relevant regulations and seeks out best practices for adoption of those changes. The HR Compliance Specialist writes and updates policies. This role is essential in ensuring that MTO provides a safe and compliant workplace for our employees. The HR Compliance Specialist is skilled at communicating to all levels of the organization and is able to form effective relationships in support of that effort. This role is responsible for communicating policies and practices and provides training to ensure that our population is informed and prepared.

    Job Functions:

    Description of Responsibilities:

    Compliance

    • Write, update and maintain policies.
    • Monitor and interpret changes to the regulations impacting our organization and make appropriate changes to our policies to maintain compliance.
    • Analyze current policies and recommend updates or appropriate changes.
    • Own and maintain Human Resources records in compliance with policies and regulations.
    • Maintain Emergency Procedures in compliance with building and regulatory standards.
    • Organize and facilitate any required drills or practice application of emergency procedures. This includes ensuring all volunteer safety positions are filled and that those individuals complete required training and actively participate in relevant drills.
    • Own, maintain and carry out COVID-19 procedures and practices. This includes tracking cases, contact tracing, maintaining records, partnering with other functions, communicating and ensuring adherence to regulations at every stage of a reported exposure.
    • Design, document and implement relevant procedures and practices.
    • Partner with other departments to ensure compliance and consistent policy application.

    Training

    • Develop, maintain and deliver compliance-related training.
    • Deploy and manage anti-harassment training program.
    • Develop and carry out a training and communication plan for regular updates and reminders on policies and compliance-related topics.

    Other Activities

    • Maintain and produce reports that support compliance-related activities.
    • Manage and interpret data and produce reports for senior management.
    • Manage vendor relationships to maximize investment and ensure excellent service.
    • Own periodic projects and perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience/Skills:

    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2-5 years of experience as a HR Compliance Specialist or closely related position.
    • High level ability to build strong relationships and operate as a trusted advisor to individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to use HRIS system to research and run existing reports.
    • Expert ability to read and interpret laws, rules and regulatory publications and apply that knowledge to MTO.
    • High level knowledge of employment laws, compliance requirements and human resources best practices for policies.
    • Expert ability to write policies, procedures and related documentation.
    • Ability to collect and analyze data to support informed and thorough decision making.
    • High level ability to design efficient processes and procedures.
    • High level of attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and error-free work consistently.
    • High level ability to communicate via all modes to all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to work independently with little daily supervision.
    • High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline and human resource certification (i.e. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) highly desired.
