    REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research 

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

     

    The Program Associate will contribute to the implementation of PCORI’s research agenda, including assisting with carrying out the mission of PCORI’s Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research program. The Program Associate works independently, with guidance, and collaboratively in conducting the following activities: program development, topic-specific research, project management, contract review and interim report analysis, and meeting development and implementation. The Program Associate assists in designing and implementing new initiatives, evaluating proposals, and monitoring programs and awards.

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    GENERAL PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Gather, synthesize, and analyze literature to cultivate background information and identify key findings relevant to Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research.
    • Coordinate and implement meetings, such as workgroups, task forces, advisory panels, and webinars.
    • Participate in long and short-term program development, planning, and evaluation of team initiatives and programs.
    • Collaborate and work with all other PCORI departments, including Contracts Management, Finance, Engagement, and Communications as necessary.

     

    PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT:

    • Support Program Officers in the active monitoring of funded projects to ensure on-time submission of deliverables, appropriate documentation, real-time status reporting of projects, and timely completion of award.
    • Support Program Officers in the pre-award process for proposed submissions.
    • Produce reports, presentations, and related materials regarding PCORI and HDDR program activities and outcomes with direction from the Program Director, Associate Director, and/or Program Officers, as appropriate.
    • Assist with implementing PCORI’s processes for funding awards and policies of PCORI.
    • Work with Program Officers, Program Associates, or other staff and consultants to assess results from previous and current awards and contracts, and to actively communicate results and findings to other staff, awardees, and the field as appropriate.
    • Assist Program Officers with the refinement of high priority research topics for the program, including work related to topic briefs, landscape reviews or other project development, ensuring accuracy of activities and timely delivery.
    • Lead multi-faceted projects and develop project plans which identify key issues, problems, approaches, timelines, and resources required.
    • Support PCORI’s survey and evaluation work as needed.

     

    ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND CONTRIBUTIONS: 

    • Attend external meetings and conferences on behalf of PCORI, at the discretion of the Program Director. Program Associates may also respond to public inquiries about the application process.
    • Work with senior leadership to coordinate and/or prepare materials for PCORI’s Board of Governors or subcommittee meetings.
    • Assist Program Director, Associate Director, Program Officer and/or Program Manager with administrative and facilitation tasks, as needed and requested.

    Required Experience

    • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., MPH, MPA, MPP; MHA; or MBA) or its equivalent with two (2) to five (5) years of related work experience is required.
    • Experience in health or health care related field, preferably in the non-profit or government sector and experience or knowledge working in a funding agency/organization is preferable.
    • Experience in assessing and evaluating healthcare systems, health services research and methods, and/or as a clinical researcher (acting as a Research Coordinator) is desirable.
    • While the Program Associate will be expected to support projects focusing on a variety of health-related topics, interest and/or experience with research related to mental and behavioral health, substance use disorders, telemedicine and m-health, and/or maternal and child health will be beneficial.
