  • Responsibilities

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Senior Device Engineer is responsible for the design and development of thin-film PV modules in an R&D environment.  Utilizing feedback from the CTO and other technical team members, the Senior Device Engineer will apply advanced semiconductor device physics and engineering concepts to develop, optimize, and evaluate cutting-edge thin-film PV devices.

    Required Skills

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

    • Fabricate and analyze thin-film PV devices
    • Report all R&D findings to the CTO on a weekly basis
    • Maintain a safe working environment within the company’s labs
    • Perform basic laboratory maintenance, as needed

     

    ABILITIES

    • Strong understanding of solar device physics and thin film semiconductor device function
    • Competence with spectroscopic and PV analysis tools, such as IV testing; EQE; transmission, photoluminescence, admittance spectroscopy; profilometry; microscopy
    • Competence in common thin film fabrication techniques, such as spin coating, blade coating, slot-die coating, thermal evaporation, e-beam deposition, sputtering
    • Strong dexterity and proven excellence in solution-based device processing, particularly within a glovebox environment
    • Ability to perform data processing in timely fashion and report in presentation format

    Required Experience

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    PhD in thin-film solar-related technical field (e.g., chemistry, physics, materials science, electrical engineering); at least 4 years experience in the thin-film solar PV arena, or MS in related field with 8 years experience.  Relevant experience in perovskite PV R&D a plus.
