    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    HIAS seeks a Development Operations & Communications Manager to provide support to the Development department. Reporting to the Associate Director, Development Operations, this role helps to drive forward both HIAS’ fundraising activities and its engagement activities, and assists in fostering and maintaining HIAS’ relationships with donors. This role will work closely with a wide variety of internal stakeholders, both within the Public Affairs division and outside of it, as well as liaise with vendors and consultants. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    • Oversees the gift entry and acknowledgment process, ensuring gifts are acknowledged in a timely and accurate manner. 

    • Oversees lockbox vendor relationship and gift, acknowledgment, and data processing services. 

    • Manages donor helpdesk to ensure inquires received are answered efficiently and accurately. 

    • Creates, edits, and updates donor communications materials, processes, and content, including acknowledgments and informational brochures.  

    • Collaborates with other departments to research, develop, and implement best practices for donor communications. 

    • Supports preparation of the annual report. 

    • Develops and maintains Development Operations processes and procedures to ensure efficient workflow and best practices. 

    • Coordinates with Finance to ensure that contributions are coded and recorded properly. 

    • Enters and maintains data in Raiser’s Edge. 

    • Supervises Development Associate and Database Administrator. 

    • Assists in other Public Affairs projects as assigned.

      

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: 

    • At least 4 years of experience in a nonprofit fundraising/development environment. 

    • Experience with fundraising data management systems required, particularly Raiser’s Edge. 

    • Experience in gift and acknowledgment processing. 

    • Must be detail-oriented, with excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced work environment. 

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel). 

    • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
