Day Program

Highpointe Care is currently seeking full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our day program in Lake Elsinore. Highpointe Care’s day services provide skills training and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:

As a Direct Support Professional, you will participate in in-person and community-based classes. The curriculum includes art, music, cooking, volunteering, and more. We're looking for creative and compassionate people who are teachers at heart, and we encourage you to bring your own ideas for new curriculum! The work environment may be a mix of indoor and outdoor settings.

· Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.

· Culturally sensitive and aware of differences in employees based on cultural backgrounds; aware of one's own culture and how someone's background may lead to biases; has the skills and resources needed to work with employees from all different cultures and the ability to avoid making biased assumptions based on someone's culture.

What You’ll Do:

· Teach individuals social/life skills to help them lead more independent lives, including communication skills, money management, and basic life skills.

· Teach individuals vocational skills to help prepare them for entry-level employment.

· Supervise individuals during hours of instruction and on community outings and volunteering.

· Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills.

· Direct Support Professionals work with up-to 3 clients per day

· Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and written progress reports.

· Completes all documentation within the timelines established by the company.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Pick up your participants with a good attitude and compassion using company vehicle.

· Receives and performs daily and weekly job assignments in time frame.

· Ability to multi-task and follow directions.

· Complete daily reports and observations for your participants online via app.

· Return your participants to home location at end of day using company vehicle.

Physical Requirements

The Direct Support Professional works in an indoor setting and occasionally in an outdoor setting. Frequent lifting and/or carrying objects/individuals up to 50 plus pounds is required. Constant hearing, seeing, and speaking is required. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, keying, repetitive hand, finger movement, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting neck, twisting waist, driving, feeling, and crouching. Occasional running, climbing, kneeling, traveling, squatting, sitting, and balancing is required.

Qualifications

• A reliable vehicle

• Driver Licensed in the State of California required.

• Cleared DMV driving Record.

• Maintain current First-Aid and CPR Certification.

• Must pass Live Scan background check,

• Must complete and pass Physical, Drug Test and TB testing.

• Direct Support Professional certification preferred, not required

• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
