Presently we are searching for Plant Controller candidates for a Santa Ana manufacturing facility that specialized in electronics manufacturing. The company is private equity backed, growing and very stable. Having placed several team members inside the company we can speak with good perspective about the company, culture, and work.

    SUMMARY:
    Controller for a growing manufacturing plant leading all plant accounting and finance, leading a small team. This role reports into the Corporate VP of Finance.

    Principal duties:

    • Maintaining the integrity of the Company's accounting system, internal controls,
    • Accurate financial reporting and underlying accounting records for the Company,
    • Financial forecasting and budgeting,
    • Financial analyses of results
    • Managing Plant Treasury/Banking functions
    • Coordinates the annual Plant audit and annual administrative tasks.
    • Manages a small team and takes responsibility for their development and performance

    DUITES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain the general ledger and accounting records in compliance with GAAP for the organization and manage the closing process. Ensure accounting records are accurate and updated timely. Manage local plant accounting, billing, collections and AP.
    • Prepare and issue financial statements and ancillary reports in accordance with approved Finance calendar; prepare Company Corporate reports for consolidation purposes.
    • Prepare monthly financial review for CFO in support of meetings with Operations management and prepare timely MD&A of results as needed.
    • Manage AP and AR Specialists, providing direction and oversight.
    • Reconcile and resolve inter-company activity.
    • Collaborate to resolve any accounting issues resulting from operations.
    • Oversee and issue 13-week Cash Flow Forecasts.
    • Develop and maintain solid accounting policies.
    • Ensure a strong system of internal controls exists, properly monitored.
    • Coordinate the annual audit for the plant, including preparation of external financial statements and footnote disclosures.
    • Coordinate the preparation of the Federal and state tax returns for Plant. Ensures state and local tax compliance.
    • Manage daily cash flow and availability reporting.
    • Prepare and manage monthly and quarterly loan compliance certificates, including monthly borrowing base, quarterly covenant calculations, etc.
    • Oversee monthly intercompany billings, allocations, and the JE's and maintain certain G/L accounts for assigned divisions, as needed.
    • Work with property & casualty insurance brokers to facilitate the annual Plant insurance renewals, including development of exposure data, evaluation of proposed insurance providers/policies, etc.
    • Coordinate annual insurance premium audits and prepare insurance allocations to the subsidiaries.
    • File state tax reports and annual reports, fictitious name filings, etc.
    • Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including customer credit allowance and management.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

    • Four-year degree in Accounting, business or related field from an accredited college or university; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
    • Strong GAAP knowledge.
    • A minimum of five years of Controller level experience (manufacturing preferred).
    • Multiple subsidiary consolidation experience as Controller.
    • A thorough knowledge of financial performance drivers, accounting principles, procedures and systems with a solid understanding of accounting, tax, treasury, cash flow, and internal controls.

    • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong PC skills including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required and proficiency in the rest of the Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, and PowerPoint). Sage accounting software experience a plus. Forecasting software experience a plus.
    • Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience with Sage 500 helpful.
    • Technology Manufacturing preferred but not required. Exposure and understanding of ASC606 Revenue recognition and Work In Process Inventory helpful.
