    Job Description

    HJD Capital Electric, Inc. is 100% employee-owned, and our employees are empowered to control safety, quality, and the growth of the company.  We are seeking a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Business Office as a Human Resources Manager.  The HR Manager is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to our team.  This role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing excellent internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.  Successful candidates will demonstrate:

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

    • Provide support and guidance to HR admin, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

    • Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

    • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

    • Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. 

    • Implements change based on proven change-management techniques.

    • Oversee risk management issues such as safety, health, and legal issues.

    • Maintain knowledge or trends and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

    • Seek opportunities for organizational process improvements, and implement solutions within designated area of responsibility.

    • Apply policies and procedures across the organization and recommends policy changes to support business needs.

    • Manage day-to-day HR functions.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Advanced business and HR acumen including strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.

    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

    • Ability to coach leadership to use company best practices for maximum effectiveness.

    • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations such as ERISA, COBRA, ADA, FMLA, and other federal and state laws covering discrimination and equal opportunity employment.

    • Proven ability to successfully work as a team member and to build and maintain a positive work environment across the company.

    • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment requiring strong multi-tasking abilities

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

    • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP required.
    • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience required and industry experience preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 
    • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
