JOB DESCRIPTION
The Product Manager is responsible for both product planning and product marketing. This includes managing the product throughout the Product Lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, to deliver winning products. It also includes working with sales, marketing, and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager’s job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Define the product strategy and roadmap.
Be an expert with respect to the products, applications, and the marketplace
Develop the core positioning and messaging for the products
Monitor and optimize existing product business including understanding sales/growth trends, product profitability trends, relative investments, and forecasts. Develop additional portfolio recommendations based on existing product performance.
Identify priority opportunities across workflows and customer segments
Develop product related collateral materials & web-based product content
Develop sales tools, product aids and application guides
Participate in Sales & Business Development with customers
Participate in product pricing activities to meet revenue and profitability goals
Propose an overall budget to ensure success
Brief and train the sales force on products & applications
Set appropriate direction and priority for new product launch plans for projects within responsibility, including assessing critical factors for commercial success of new novel technology/innovation products and extension product launches. Establish market adoption plans, priorities and objectives based on assessment of critical success factors.
Must be able to travel 25% of the time
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education
Minimum of 5-7 years experience as a Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager and knowledge in the Laboratory & Life Science market
Bachelor’s Degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or related Scientific discipline; can be substituted by equivalent experience
MBA with a science undergrad degree or PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or related Scientific discipline preferred
Knowledge of diverse genomic analysis applications and NGS is required
Experience working across organizational lines to translate market trends and opportunities into financial business plans
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead an organization by promoting competency development and inspiring others
