    This position is part of the New Ventures Team within Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS), our Client’s largest Business Unit with 3.8B in annual revenue. MDS is comprised of the world-leading products needed to safely prepare and administer medication, such as: intravenous catheters, IV sets, connectors, flush syringes, Chloraprep infection prevention products, hazardous drug safety containment items, and hypodermic syringes. MDS is focused on reducing complications, improving patient safety/outcomes, and lowering total cost of care around the world.

    The Associate Director of New Ventures – VAM Analytics will work within the New Ventures Group to support the team’s charter to develop smart connected care solutions, services and/or value offerings for MDS, beyond BD’s core global platforms. With a focus on digital opportunities, this role involves researching and assessing market and clinical trends to identify unmet customer needs that can be addressed through digital platform solutions that use data generation across the MDS portfolio to provide insights to clinicians and hospital leaders that will drive practice standardization and improved patient care. The Associate Director will spearhead work to identify and develop detailed user needs, commercial requirements, and roadmap for data and analytics and drive VAM analytics through commercial execution.

    The role will report to the Director, New Ventures for VAMguard solutions.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Investigate significant areas of unmet need through fact-based market and customer insights research.

    • Drive cross-functional evaluation of growth opportunities to identify underlying clinical needs, evaluate market size and optimal segmentation, assess customer willingness-to-pay and adoption, identify likely regulatory pathways as applicable, assess IP and evaluate possible partnership scenarios.

    • Develop concepts (customer presentations, wireframes) for digital solutions and share with users and target buyers to build detailed commercial requirements for software engineering teams

    • Closely partner with R&D Innovation teams across MDS, Software Technology Services, Medical Affairs, UXD, and Marketing, and explore solution concept design options and to assess technical and UI development.

    • Facilitate external research projects, interview clinical and commercial subject matter authorities and attend MDS-related conferences / tradeshows to surface and prioritize new analytics opportunities.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional team members (R&D, Medical Affairs, Quality, etc.), regional sales teams, customers and key opinion leaders.

    • The Associate Director will partner with these experts to gather their feedback to identify, assess and build support for data and analytics opportunities that expand the portfolio and deliver new solutions to customers worldwide. New opportunities may result from external business development or internal research and development.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    The successful candidate will have a consistent record of leading data and analytics opportunities from concept generation through roadmap development and commercial execution within the healthcare industry. Strong critical thinking, analytical capability, product development and digital experience is required.

    The candidate will have a reputation and record of effective cross-functional collaboration as well as outside advisors and customers, with a validated history of actively partnering with the R&D and the clinical community to collect and develop new analytics capabilities as well as to help understand and communicate key technological advancements.

    Education and experience required: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree and MBA required (or equivalent education or work experience), with focus on sciences/engineering a plus.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Management or Marketing with some experience in the MedTech or healthcare industries.

    • Some strategic marketing experience desirable in established global healthcare company.

    • Consistent track-record of dedication and results.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: 

    • Experience with digital health required, experience with connected medical devices a plus

    • Demonstrated strategic capabilities with consistent record of translating strategy to tangible revenue growth opportunities.

    • Sophisticated fact-based, critical thinking skills that are used to develop strategies and proposals including financial analysis, market sizing and competitive landscape assessment.

    • Experience in planning and performing market research with customers, preferably in a hospital setting.

    • Ability to build a defined plan from ambiguity and engage across functions and regions to gather inputs and support.

    • Strong technical understanding and demonstrated ability to define and prioritize opportunity areas and engage R&D to understand possible solutions and offerings.

    • Experience with innovation process and driving innovation projects/initiatives.

    • Highly effective interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence that have resulted in positive relationship building, with the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization and to influence without authority.
