    Our client is a customer driven company. Their employees are their most valuable resource. This is an incredibly important position as your performance will strongly affect both. You will be responsible for managing the Production Teams using a management-by-walking-around approach. Committed to on time delivery of products, collaborating with customer service to prioritize customer needs, if delays happen, help to troubleshoot chemical formulation and process issues. Collaborate with supply chain for sourcing needs, being sensitive to cut-off times to be able to fix problems quickly. Ensure labs keep accurate inventory of all chemicals and lab supplies with assigned locations. Schedule regular cycle counting of raw materials. Oversee scheduled for individual production areas, ensuring proper coverage for optimal flow of production.

    As our client continues to grow, you will identify and champion improvements in the manufacturing areas. Work with various departments to implement equipment and process improvements, providing scientific and functional guidance. Work with Quality teams to ensure products are meeting specifications and watch for behaviors that effect quality by production staff as part of your management by -walking-around techniques. Responsible for hiring, developing, mentoring, and motivating production teams. Work to continuously develop the team and implement best in class production techniques focusing on safety and on-time delivery.

     


    PRIMARY DUTIES:
    • Lead our client's production teams, mentoring and developing the staff to continuously build the group's capabilities and readiness for growing complexity and scale of the business. Responsible for the following departments: Formulation Lab, Clean Room Filtration, Filtration, Plate Production and Non-Sterile Packaging.
    • Assist Receiving, Purchasing and Finance with materials forecast, ensuring consistent materials availability for all laboratory functions, including adequate planning for long lead time items and short expiry items
    • Maintain accountability for manufacturing planning and scheduling, ensuring materials availability, appropriate staffing and efficiency in manufacturing
    • Ensure formulation lab staff properly manages Work-In-Progress (WIP) subcomponents and finished goods to keep an accurate inventory of raw materials
    • Drive continuous improvement throughout the production team, identifying and prioritizing proposed improvements, aligning senior management on the changes and assisting in measuring their business impact and effectiveness
    • Conduct regular production meetings and department meetings, setting goals for each lab and ensuring all employees are properly trained
    • Drive continuous improvement in production by identifying, prioritizing and driving cost saving opportunities
    • Ensure consistent compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and applicable regulations
    • Ensure that production Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are up to current practice and notify Quality Assurance (QA) when new procedures are implemented


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelors in Biology, Chemistry or related scientific field preferred
    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
    • 5 years experience managing 20 or more employees in a biotech, pharmaceutical or similar industry preferred
    • Bench / Industrial scale chemistry / biochemistry experience
    • Experience in biology, microbiology, molecular biology or biochemistry preferred
    • Excellent verbal / written communication skills
    • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced highly interdisciplinary environment
    • A track record of success in meeting the production needs of a diverse internal customer base and ensuring uninterrupted flow of product through the production departments
    • Experience with ERP Systems preferred
    • Experience developing metrics
    • Effective problem solving skills to successfully deal with problems varying in complexity
    • Able to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner
    • Able to prioritize and drive results with a high emphasis on quality
