Summary
Performs sales and customer service functions related to guest registration, reservations and revenue collection. Accommodates guests of the hotel/motel by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Courteously and enthusiastically Greets, registers, and assigns rooms to guests.
Transmits and receives telephone messages.
Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services; registration of guests; and shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions for guests.
Engages in conversation with guests in order to be source of local information.
Keeps record of room availability and guest accounts.
Computes bill, collects payment, and makes change for guests.
Makes and confirms reservations.
Posts charges such as room, food, liquor, and telephone to ledger.
Responds appropriately to guest complaints. Takes actions necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
Responds to issues of safety and security as outlined in the HLC safety and security manual.
Deposits guests’ valuables in hotel safe or safe deposit box. Provides security for guests by following procedures as outlined in HLC’s safety and security manual.
Performs any additional tasks as assigned by property manager.
Work with team members to ensure that guest expectations are met and exceeded.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of our organization.
Mathematical Skill
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to learn computer functions and operate a keyboard with sufficient skill to carry out guest registration and auditing functions.
