Locally owned and operated, this management company currently runs six historic Savannah hotels, including The Marshall House, The Kehoe House, East Bay Inn, Olde Harbour Inn, The Eliza Thompson House, and The Gastonian. Collectively, the hotels are marketed as Historic Inns of Savannah.

    In business for almost 50 years, HLC employs more than 130 people with a corporate office located inside The Kehoe House on Columbia Square.

    Summary

    Tends laundry machines to clean articles such as rags, wiping cloths, linens, bedspreads, drapes, and other washable items found in hotel/motel by performing the following duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Courteously and enthusiastically Greets guest.

    Engages in conversation with guests in order to be source of local information.

    Load articles into washer and determines the proper level of product to be dispensed into the machine.

    Start the machine that automatically washes and rinses the articles.

    Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them into the dryer.

    Sorts dried articles according to type.

    Fold dried articles and places them in appropriate storage bin or area.

    Sort and count dried articles to verify quantities on laundry list.

    Soak contaminated articles special solution to precondition articles for washing.

    Mixes dyes and bleaches according to formula, and dyes and bleaches specified articles.

    Regularly cleans the laundry processing equipment.

    Keeps laundry room clean, neat, and organized.

    Provides security for guest by following procedures as outlined in the HLC Safety and Security Manual.

    Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Head Housekeeper or General Manager.

    Qualification Requirements

    Education and/or Experience

    Less than a high school education; or up to 1 month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read a limited number of two-three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

    Mathematical Skill

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume and distance.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
