  • Responsibilities

    The System Administrator role is to contribute to the overall operations of the Organization's IT systems. This includes but not limited to; designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting internal computer networks and infrastructure using IT industry best practices. Supporting technologies are also required (Networking, Virtualization, VOIP).  

    SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Oversee day-to-day operation of technology resources, including computer networks and communication system
    • Troubleshoot and support network hardware and software
    • Maintain end-point security solution
    • Maintain system back-ups in accordance with organization's business continuity plan
    • Maintain health and organization of IT system using industry's best practices
    • Maintain corporate network documentation and establish corporate policies for use of technology resources
    • Maintain organization's cybersecurity practices and protection of intellectual property
    • Software Licenses, Subscriptions, patch and update management
    • Oversee operations including prioritization of requests, establishment of escalation policies, and change management
    • Attend classes, seminars, conferences and reviews professional literature to enhance knowledge of trends and developments related to technology.
    • Participate in long range technology planning, including annual budget process

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

    • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems – Window Server 2008, 2012, 2016, Windows 7 & Windows 10 Experience

    • VMWare experience (5.x or newer)

    • Knowledge of monitoring software WhatsUP Gold experience a plus

    • Knowledge of SAN appliance Equallogic experience a plus

    • Prioritize requests, organize, schedule and coordinate a variety of activities and projects

    • Working Knowledge of backup vault systems. eVault experience a plus

    • Experience with Meraki wireless access points, Office 365 Administration, Network configuration management and telecommunications

    • Read, interpret and apply technical instructions, manual and guides

    • Possess strong documentation and change management reporting skills

    • Adapt to changes in technology by reading, interpreting and applying new and emerging standards in computing technologies

    • Work independently and as a team member

    EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Strong troubleshooting skills and process

    • End-User helpdesk support or similar experience

    • Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, Active Directory, Terminals Server (RDS), MS SQL, IIS

    • DNS, DHCP, FTP, and other networking services

    • Supporting Cisco networking and telecommunications equipment

    • Practical experience in a manufacturing environment, a plus

    • Experience in supporting Windows servers, networking, phone systems (5+ years)

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience with network support and design, software applications, operating systems and network connectivity.
    • Knowledge of local area network architecture.
    • Knowledge of computers and related technologies.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.
    • Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
    • Solid problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve technical issues. Ability to anticipate and resolve problems while maximizing efficient use of computing resources.
    • Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times, multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations.
    • Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision.
    • The ability to clearly communicate in English (in person, over the telephone, and in writing) is a requirement
    • Periodic weekend and off-hours support requirements are necessary
    • May be required to travel to remote sites to assist with integration projects
