  • Responsibilities

    MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Under general supervision, prepare buildings and surfaces for painting.  Apply coat of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to protect exterior surfaces, structures, pavement and fixtures throughout the facility. 

    Store, handle and dispose of paint, stain, varnish and other chemicals according to established procedures. 

    Other duties could include working in other areas of the maintenance department to provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects.

     

    REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

     

    EDUCATION:    

     

    • High School Diploma or equivalency or equivalent combination of education and experience.

                                                   

    EXPERIENCE:  

     

    • 1-2 years experience preferred

     

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:    

     

    • Bilingual English /Spanish, strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Knowledge of painting equipment, spray equipment, air compressor, power tools and equipment, hand tools, ladder, scaffolding.

     

    ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:   

     

    • Ensure all facility equipment is operating properly and safe. 

    • Perform periodic and general maintenance tasks throughout the facility as assigned and according to schedule. 

    • Includes all assignments of hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, painting, carpentry, building maintenance and overhauls. 

    • Perform daily inspections and repairs of dock doors and plates, speed doors and other building critical systems to ensure maximum reliability for operations up-time. 

    • Identify problems in building systems and work with management to schedule repairs. 

    • Identify and prepare buildings and surfaces for painting regularly. 

    • Provide information/documentation of work performed and complete written maintenance/PM/inspection forms and return to maintenance administration in a timely manner. 

    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   (NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT)

     

    • Ability to stand and walk for long period of time, able to lift 25 pounds. Consistent bending at the waist (sampling) and driving.

     

    Required Skills

    • Bilingual English /Spanish, strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Knowledge of painting equipment, spray equipment, air compressor, power tools and equipment, hand tools, ladder, scaffolding.

    Required Experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalency or equivalent combination of education and experience.
