    The Manager of Production and Lead Chapel Liaison is responsible for maintaining the successful ongoing operations of the Media Services team, from recruitment, training, policy, and analytics, to project management, event coordination, lighting technology design, and leadership. This position is responsible for direct management, logistics, and scheduling of chapel production technology teams, ensuring successful delivery of quality service at all levels of production.

     

    The Manager also assists the Director of Media Services with the creation and evaluation of analytical reports crucial to better understanding and achieving efficient media technology operations. The position is further responsible for all production lighting technology integration, from design to implementation, as well as some video and classroom media control integration, and assists the Director of Media Services in the successful leadership and coordination of university special events. Influences, supports and achieves the department WIN Strategy: which is to create “Enthusiastic Returning Customers”.

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's degree in Media Production, Broadcast, or Business or 3 to 5 year’s experience (Master’s or 3 to 5 years of equivalent experience preferred).

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • 3 to 5 years of proven leadership and management experience in media technology pre-production, production, operations and logistics.
    • Experience with the creation and implementation of KPI dashboards & scorecards.
    • Ability to work effectively with department management and team to define and meet performance goals.
    • Experience with employee recruitment, on-boarding, and retention methods.
    • Experience planning, scheduling, and overseeing employee training and development.
    • Proven working experience in project management, particularly using project management software and working with stakeholders to meet key deliverables and timelines. 
    • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills. 
    • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking. 
    • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet automation including Google Sheets and Excel. 
    • Working knowledge in dashboard software, including Google Dashboards and Smartsheets.
    • Extensive experience with computer aided design (CAD) software in lighting design, rendering, and the creation of detailed lighting schedules.
    • Experience in 3D modeling and rendering software such as Cinema 4D or Maya.
    • Strong computerized lighting programming experience.  Video editing experience on non-linear editing software a plus. 
    • Proven computer programming experience - experience in iOS programming and app development is a plus.
    • Proven experience as a team leader.
    • Experience on location and sound stage/studio video recordings.
    • Should have at least three to five years of production experience.
    • Experience in computerized lighting programming.
    • Proven leadership experience in live events and media production.
    • Advanced knowledge of overhead safety rigging.
    • Working knowledge of studio audio recording.
    • Working knowledge of technical aspects pertaining to live productions: Graphics, Staging, Video, Audio, and Lighting.
    • Operating knowledge of video equipment, especially switchers, routers, monitors, and cameras.
    • Operating knowledge in editing, rendering, and graphics creations.
    • Ability to integrate media content and quality with biblical knowledge and the university’s mission.
    • Advanced proficiency in both Macintosh and Windows operating systems.

     

    PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Partner with the Corporate Worship office on the development and implementation of chapel media technology solutions for all undergraduate chapels and events.
    • Manage the production and output of chapel video editing teams. 
    • Prepare financial analysis, cost reporting, and dashboards, evaluating operational bottlenecks and driving cost-effective solutions for the media services team.
    • Manage media technology integration projects, developing and adhering to strategic initiatives, project timelines, and key deliverables.
    • Drive departmental efficiencies across staffing, logistics, spending, and customer management.
    • Oversee department internal policy-writing, workforce recruitment, interviewing, training, and retention efforts.
    • Design, implement, and oversee the installation and operation of production lighting control systems entailing architectural and theatrical lighting solutions across event venues on campus. 
    • Spearhead production lighting design creation, implementation, and coordination for events.
    • Utilize Vectorworks CAD software to output venue plots, as well as create lighting fixture virtualization, schedules and patches. 
    • Design and distribute 3D promotional renders for university-wide design projects utilizing 3D rendering and design software.  
    • Maintain and utilizate the student employee matrix database.
    • Utilize computer programming to maintain classroom video wall control units via Xcode or similar UDE software.
    • Coordinate with the Director of Media and the entire team of IMT Media on the Life Cycle of event productions. 
    • Manage all chapel production logistics pertaining to scheduling, graphics, video, audio, lighting, budgets, and workflow optimization.
    • Responsible for all business and communication relating to Chapel service production. 
    • Ensure quality and overall outcome/success of day-to-day operational activities of production teams. 
    • Attend weekly Media Services meetings and lead all chapel production teams. 
    • Monitor quality of chapel by physically walking each site to ensure that all media elements are 
    • functioning properly. 
    • Ensure operational guidelines are met according to timelines. 
    • Assist Video Production Manager with video production shoots. 
    • Lead the training of APU faculty and staff on the use of designated Media Services supported 
    • equipment as it relates to production.
    • Partners with the Director in the entire Life Cycle of events including event planning, scheduling and operations.
    • Ability to be on site to work events on evenings and weekends as directed by the Director of Media Services. 
    • Assist in any production task requested by the IMT Media Director.
    • Coordinate all facility Lighting and Production Coordination Events as directed by the Director of Media.
    • Coordinate Lighting programming, complex lighting designs, and lighting needs for all event productions.
    • During events this position regularly will lead/direct: Peers, Staff, Faculty, and Students. 
    • Interact with event clients (internal/external) coordination.

    • This position is required to deal with the IMT Media staff on a daily basis. This is a key relationship for this position. 
    • Problems encountered may require the ability to work as part of a team to find a resolution, and leadership in that area is critical of this role.
    • Solutions may involve the arranging of tasks to be done or conducting negotiations until satisfaction is provided.
    • Operates in agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian-based higher education for its students.

    COMPENSATION

    • Grade 12: $30.67 - $39.87/hourly.
    • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
