    Stewards Individual Placement Program (SIPP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.

    National Capital Parks - East (NACE) includes several park sites such as Anacostia Park, Capitol Hill Parks Fort Washington Park, Greenbelt Park, and various other historic and recreational areas in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. Its mission is to conserve and manage these resources for the benefit of the public while promoting education, recreation, and cultural understanding.

    Position Responsibilities will include:

    · Creation of news releases

    · Responding to media and public queries

    · Planning and executing media and community engagement events

    · Creating social media content that raises brand awareness and increases engagement

    · Creation of audio & visual explanatory storytelling products such as infographics and videos.

    Translating science, engineering, natural resources management and land use planning content into plain language products so affected people can make informed decisions more easily

    Benefits:

    · Professional Development: $2300 available for conferences, training, gear, etc.

    · Hourly pay: $17.50/hour + $200/week in housing assistance

    · Trainings available: Weekly communication trainings, introductory training for public communicators, and more

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    · Minimum Requirements:

    · Bachelors in marketing, communications, or a similar field preferred

    · Experience managing social media or marketing professionally may be substituted for education

    Preferred Qualifications:

    · Media, writing, or marketing experience preferred

  • Qualifications
    • Must work quickly, productively and safely without error and consistently meet the production goals as set by the Foreman, Superintendent or Project Manager.
    • Prepare the layout of the project.
    • Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions.
    • Select materials.
    • Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
    • Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
    • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures.
    • Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
    • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings.
    • Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
    • Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception
    • Must comply with all company safety and personnel policies.
    • Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, lift overhead, work at heights, walk/work in rough terrain in order to access equipment, tools, materials, and jobsite in order to complete work.
    • Must be able to work the hours necessary in order to achieve the goals of the company.
    • Install cabinets and molding.
    • Create structures for pouring concrete.
    • Erect scaffolding.
    • Build tunnel bracing.
    • Build concrete forms for tunnel or sewer construction project.
    • Replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors.
    • Install partitions, doors, and windows.
    • Move and install machinery.
