    LAB TECHNICIAN 

    An employee in this position will perform a variety of testing activities on sheet metal aircraft components. Responsible for representing the test lab to auditors and customers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform a variety of testing, including tensile, bend, hardness, welder certifications; and metallographic analysis of materials and processes commonly used at Exotic.
    • Monitor the completion of periodic process control testing and ensures samples are submitted for evaluation.
    • Perform necessary testing as requested by Design or Quality Engineering for the evaluation and resolution of material failures related to processing.
    • Utilize laboratory test equipment and apparatus, and arrange and suggest modifications to equipment for optimal functioning.
    • Record test findings; prepare and analyze results for review by customers and engineering personnel.
    • Help with development of new lab testing procedures.
    • Detect and evaluate opportunities for improvement and propose solutions for potential or existing problems within scope of job function.
    • May perform a variety of inspection functions to support final and receiving inspection.
    • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
    • Represent Exotic procedures and inspections to customers and auditors.
    • Performs all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
    • Uses independent judgment in making decisions and knows when to stop and seek clarification.
    • Train others on all lab testing activities.
    • Work under minimal oversight.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Requires proficient written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of office procedures, and experience in the operation of office equipment.
    • Requires familiarity with personal computers and related software.
    • Reads and understands manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and customer specifications as necessary to perform the job function.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, respirator, and rubber gloves as required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.

  • Qualifications
    • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
    • Basic knowledge of building codes.
    • Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of plans, sections diagrams and equipment schedules, and drawings.
    • Proficiency in Revit, including BIM and AutoCAD required.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Basic knowledge about sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
    • Ability to perform standard computer drafting functions using Revit and AutoCAD and be able to resolve design conflicts  
    • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work in team environment.
