    Homeless Health Care Los Angeles (HHCLA) is a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides comprehensive behavioral health and holistic health care to address the unique challenges of people who are experiencing homelessness. Driven by socially conscious Angelenos for fellow Angelenos, HHCLA has been providing a pathway to health, recovery and emotional well-being without bias or judgement for more than 30 years. With a continuum of services that includes counseling, substance use treatment, syringe exchange, overdose prevention, and housing with supportive services, HHCLA seeks to improve the quality of life and capacity for stability of the people they serve, and help them secure and stay in permanent housing.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The Training Specialist will be expected to educate community partners regarding cultural humility towards underserved communities, train on effective practices and interventions for change within the social services, and teach current statistics regarding homelessness at the national and local level.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Teaches professional modules to and navigate a cohort of 30-200 people for 8 hours in a day.
    • Follow ups with cohort participants and assists with inquiries regarding curriculum, logistics of case management training, or searches for resources.
    • Coordinates and facilitates professional training, presentations and workshops in various behavioral health, public health and medical subjects.
    • Monitors program contracts, including budget management, contract reporting and timely generation and submission of reports.
    • Adapts and updates existing training materials in order to comply with contractual and agency requirements including components to be available online.
    • Develops new training curriculum as needed to support the Training and Education Department.
    • Provides assistance in data collection, for agency evaluation surveys and tests to assess training and participant performance and oversee quality control in collaboration with appropriate staff.
    • Networks and collaborates with community based organizations to market and facilitate available agency training's.
    • Participates in the overall evaluation of program services and data collection for reporting by maintaining accurate information in program participant files.
