    VETERANS AFFAIRS TRANSITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (VA TAP)

    POSITION: MASTER BENEFITS ADVISOR

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    Conduct VA transition activities in support of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP).  Transition support includes conducting standardized VA Benefits and Services Briefings, one-on-one engagements, pre-separation counseling support, military life cycle (MLC) events, Capstone events, and warm-handover support.

    A Master Benefits advisor serves as a master instructor delivering established training objectives and conducts Quality Assurance evaluations of other advisors. Responsibilities may include:

    • Executing non-event activities at assigned installation
    • Routine travel to support New Hire Training at corporate HQ
    • Developing and implementing advisor improvement plans
    • Schedule and conduct site and/or regional training
    • Maintain training records
    • Participate in weekly leadership teleconferences/virtual meetings
    • Develop and review curriculum with the program training team
    • Provide feedback on curriculum changes
    • Deliver onsite activities and execute post-event data collection activities

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Understand and apply adult learning theories
    • Understanding of VA benefits programs
    • Understanding of transitioning Service member populations
    • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools

     PREFERRED SKILLS:

    • Experience delivering briefings to live audiences
    • Knowledge of the military and experience working with military clients
    • Understanding of current veteran issues and challenges pre- and post- transitions
    • Strong instructional and evaluation skills

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree or 5 – 7 years’ equivalent work/military experience
    • Preferred emphasis in Training, Education, Career Counseling, or HR
    • 1 or more years as a Senior Advisor or Site Lead
    • Appropriate certifications

    PLACE OF DUTY: Ft Riley, KS

     

    POSITION TYPE: Full-time

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Up to 50 %

    REQUIRED START DATE: May 16th, 2022

    SALARY TYPE: Hourly (Non-Exempt) – SCA (Service Contract Act) rates $19.03
