  • Responsibilities

    You are the expert in building maintenance with a keen eye for the details. You know how to implement and manage a preventive maintenance program and respond to urgent maintenance events. Your leadership provides the maintenance team with direction and skills training. The responsibility of the Director of Maintenance is to maintain the Hotel's building, grounds, and equipment.

    As Director of Maintenance, you will

    Routinely inspect the hotel’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. Schedule, assign, and perform work as necessary according to the priority of the task.

    Maintain an effective preventive maintenance program.

    Interview and recommend candidates for hire in the maintenance department.

    Participate in the orientation of each new Maintenance employee, completing the appropriate paperwork. Coach and counsel employees in Maintenance in a positive fashion to produce improved work performance and knowledge.

    Recommend disciplinary action for violations of employee conduct policy and poor performance of essential tasks. Complete documentation on disciplinary situations for approval by the General Manager.

    Maintain an effective training program to ensure that all new Maintenance employees are properly equipped to execute their jobs.

    Record all incidences of absenteeism or tardiness of Maintenance employees to the General Manager on the appropriate form.

    Ensure proper clock-in procedures are followed by Maintenance

    employees. Monitor hours worked to prevent overtime. Approve time cards at the end of each pay period.

    Ensure that all employees report for work in proper uniform.

    Prepare work schedules for Maintenance Department employees.

    Handle purchasing for the Maintenance Department, using proper purchase order procedures. Check all shipments to be sure they are complete. Ensure that invoices to be approved are returned to the General Manager promptly.

    Responsible for the guestroom key security program. Responsible for ensuring proper storage, usage, and disposal of all chemicals utilized by Maintenance.

    Ensure that OSHA and HAZCOM procedures are followed.

    Maintain labor and other expenses to budgeted amounts

    Coordinate grounds maintenance including grass cutting, watering, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, planting, and application of herbicides.

    Maintain pool surfaces and chemical levels.

    Any other duties assigned by your supervisor.

    Fundamental Requirements

    A high school diploma, a minimum of 3 years previous maintenance experience or related, and 1-year supervisory experience is required. To be successful, you will need basic English communication skills. This job requires standing and walking 100% of the time, regularly bending, pushing, pulling, carrying, and the ability to perform repetitive motions for the entire shift. This job requires you to be able to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50lbs. We administer pre-employment background checks.
