    SUMMARY

    Northline Seafoods is a fast-growing, innovative seafood processing company seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR & Admin Assistant to join our team. In this key role, you'll support the HR Generalist with a range of administrative responsibilities, including managing employee documentation, coordinating onboarding logistics, and providing day-to-day support to team members. During the summer processing season, the HR & Admin Assistant will work onboard our processing vessel, providing essential HR, payroll and administrative support. **

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Under the guidance of the HR Generalist, manage new hire and onboarding logistics: prepare new hire documentation, set up employee accounts, and coordinate orientations.
    • Maintain accurate physical and digital HR files, including benefits, attendance, and employee records.
    • Support the HR Generalist and assist with changes to employment status.
    • Monitor the HR email inbox and respond or escalate items as appropriate.
    • Support the team with general administrative or HR-related tasks as needed.
    • Assist in executing training and employee engagement events.
    • Participate in job fairs and support recruitment practices.
    • Assist with travel logistics and flight planning during the Alaska season.
    • Serve as the point person for processing workers' compensation claims and injury reporting.
    • Maintain tracking and follow-up systems to ensure compliance and documentation.
    • Assist the payroll team with time clock kiosk training and management, employee deduction tracking, etc.
    • Travel to Alaska for 6–8 weeks each summer (typically mid-June to mid-August) to support seasonal onboarding and HR functions for our processing barge.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 1+ years of HR or administrative experience.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
    • Experience with Gusto is a plus.
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.).
    • Flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn and grow in the HR field.
    • Must be willing and able to live and work onboard a barge, at-sea, for up to 8 weeks during the summer months.

    This position operates primarily in a professional office environment; however, during the Alaska salmon season, the role requires extended periods of work aboard a processing barge. The role regularly utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and both physical and digital filing systems. The employee must be able to sit or stand at a computer workstation for prolonged periods and communicate clearly and effectively with team members. While on the barge, the employee must be physically able to navigate steep inclines, narrow passageways, and multiple levels of stairs. The role also requires the ability to lift up to 15 pounds independently and up to 30 pounds with assistance.
