HR Assistant
Position Summary
The HR Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources team, assisting with onboarding, I-9 processing, employee records, benefits administration, recruiting coordination, and other day-to-day HR functions. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in Human Resources within a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Process new hire paperwork and complete Form I-9 verification.
- Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Maintain accurate personnel files, HR records, and HRIS data.
- Assist employees with general benefits questions and support open enrollment activities.
- Provide administrative support to payroll, including data entry, timesheet corrections, and basic employee pay inquiries.
- Coordinate interviews, schedule candidates, and assist with job postings.
- Support recruiting and onboarding initiatives across multiple departments.
- Prepare, scan, file, and organize HR documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, and other special projects.
- Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources team.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Zero to two (0–2) years of Human Resources or administrative experience.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience in construction, utilities, or another field-based industry.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems.
