    CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Kent County is the only local volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens to become appointed members of the Kent County court system to act on behalf of abused or neglected children as they pass through the family court system. We do this by training our volunteers to investigate, facilitate, advocate, and monitor services for children who are wards of the court due to abuse and neglect. Our volunteers work to present first-hand information and observations to help judges make the very best decision about children’s futures. Our impact studies show that CASA involvement has led to reduced time in foster care and lowers the chances of reentry into the child welfare system.


    We currently have openings for two new Advocate Supervisors who will play a vital role in providing professional support and supervision to community member volunteers advocating for abused and neglected children living in foster or residential care. As an Advocate Supervisor, you will work to ensure that children assigned to CASA volunteers receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will collaborate closely with internal and external members to establish strong relationships and ensure established protocols are being followed.


    Key Responsibilities:


    CASA Volunteer Management:

    • Maintain a caseload of 25 volunteers
    • Ensure case assignments and protocols are followed
    • Develop action plans and strategies for advocacy
    • Provide guidance and support to volunteers
    • Maintain knowledge of each child on the caseload
    • Conduct regular contact, dismissal, and evaluation of volunteers

     

    Volunteer Recruitment & Training:

    • Assist in volunteer recruitment and screening
    • Participate in pre- and post-training interviews
    • Be familiar with all CASA training materials
    • Present training to volunteer cohortsAssess volunteer aptitude and assist with in-services


    Collaboration & Meetings:

    • Schedule agency/caseworker meetings within timelines
    • Attend case conferences, meetings, and court hearings with assigned
    • volunteersParticipate in community initiatives as assigned and regular meetings with staff and supervisor

     

    Reports & Data Management:

    • Ensure timely completion of volunteer reports
    • Compile statistical information for the Program Manager
    • Assist volunteers in writing court reports and maintaining case files
    • Enter and maintain case information in program database


    General Responsibilities:

    • Participate in professional development as desired or assigned
    • Develop strong relationships with court and child welfare personnel
    • Maintain office cleanliness
    • Perform various duties assigned by Program Manager or Executive Director
    • Attend and assist with CASA fundraising events (evening event)

       

    Our ideal candidate will have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to social work, human services, or criminal justice; or equivalent experience
    • Previous experience working with and supervising volunteers preferred but not required
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to interact professionally with stakeholders from widely divergent cultural backgrounds
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to grow a healthy work culture

     

    What we offer you:

    The nature of this position requires candidates to be available during evenings for specific events and training sessions.
