    Women's Resource Center advocates for women to achieve economic independence through meaningful employment. Their programs and services empower and educate. They partner with caring individuals and organizations throughout West Michigan to purposefully transform the employment outcomes for all women.

    The issues faced by women in the workforce drive their programming and inspire their mission. WRC has traveled hand-in-hand with women since 1973 as they have seen their own social situations change and the environment in the workplace evolve. Along the way, their programs and services have grown to more effectively motivate and inspire our participants, while giving voice to all women who seek meaningful employment in our community.

    At the heart of everything they do is the goal of economic independence for women, regardless of their current situation. WRC believes their gender-focused mission is part of a greater movement to create an equitable and inclusive culture, free of racism and discrimination, where individuals have the opportunity to achieve success in the workplace and attain economic independence.

    Women’s Resource Center is seeking a Chief Executive Officer who will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of the organization. The duties of the CEO shall be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the purpose and mission of the organization and within the policies and guidelines approved by the Board of Directors. The CEO position reports directly to the Board.

    What you will do:

    • Lead the development, execution, and monitoring of the strategic growth plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors and organizational team
    • Communicate, collaborate, and influence stakeholders, including constituents, sponsors, funders, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners
    • Provide leadership, direction, and development of staff to ensure efficient and effective operations and cross-collaboration across multiple departments
    • Maintain a positive public image of the organization and represent it in various internal and external venues
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Board members and facilitate the utilization of their professional expertise
    • Manage and oversee organizational projects, programs, staff, and volunteers
    • Ensure programs are of the highest quality, regularly evaluated, and designed to provide maximum benefits to stakeholders
    • Establish appropriate annual and long-term financial objectives and manage to consistently achieve these goals
    • Ensure appropriate systems are maintained to protect assets, mitigate risks, and maintain effective controls
    • Oversee fundraising activities and partner with the Director of Development and Communication, Development Committee, and Board of Directors in ongoing fundraising efforts
    • Build and maintain community partnerships with funders, donors, and corporate sponsors
    • Assist in acquiring gifts from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government sources
    • Monitor community and industry trends and recommend appropriate responses to maximize organizational benefit
    • Maintain professional affiliations to stay abreast of trends or changes in the field
    • Performs all other responsibilities and projects as necessary to the success of WRC

    Our ideal candidate will have:

    • Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, communication, service delivery, non-profit management, or related field required. Master's degree a bonus
    • 5+ years of experience serving in a leadership role exhibiting strong skills, with the ability to inspire, influence, collaborate, and negotiate
    • Strong business acumen and proven experience in financial management
    • Knowledge and experience in Human Resources management and processes
    • Proven fundraising experience for a non-profit organization
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including good listening skills.
    • Grant writing experience is desirable
    • Effective interpersonal skills and negotiating skills, with the ability to remain calm, poised, and diplomatic
    • High-level collaboration and influencing skills to achieve high performance
    • Demonstrated ability to balance internal management responsibilities with external visibility
    • Demonstrates current knowledge and understanding of the nonprofit industry
    • Comfortable in generating and implementing ideas and utilizing knowledge and experience base to develop a vision of the future

    Additional details about the position:

    • Onsite full-time salaried-exempt role in a fast-paced professional office environment within a dynamic and growing organization
    • Subject to multiple interruptions, changes in workload, competing priorities, varied and/or extended hours, and deadline situations
    • Travel required within the West Michigan Community. Occasional travel outside of West Michigan
