    We are seeking a skilled Human Resources Director to join our growing team. The HR Director will play a pivotal role in fostering an employee-centric, purpose-driven culture across all our entities and employing positive reinforcement methodologies to cultivate an exceptional work environment. With your strong leadership background, you will be responsible for overseeing organization development in various areas of HR such as benefits, payroll, talent acquisition, branding, communications, and organizational growth. This role will be positioned under the umbrella of Straight Gate Church and will report to the Chief of Staff.

     

    What you will do:

    • Collaborate with executive leadership to align HR strategies with the organization’s long-term mission and goals.
    • Ensure the integrity and relevancy of organizational policies through regular assessment.
    • Lead the development and execution of HR strategy.
    • Oversee all aspects of human resource programs, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary procedures, employee relations, performance management, health and safety, and learning and development.
    • Identify key performance indicators for HR functions and assess organizational success and competitiveness based on these metrics.
    • Develop comprehensive approaches to employee development, retention, and onboarding, including compensation and benefits, career paths, succession planning, and learning opportunities.
    • Build and support an HR team in various functions, including talent management, compensation, employee relations, organizational development, payroll, HRIS, branding, and communications.
    • Research, develop, and implement competitive compensation, benefits, performance, appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
    • Manage relationships with third-party vendors supporting HR functions.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Stay updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in HR, talent management, and employment.

     

    Our ideal candidate will have:

    • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required (Master’s degree preferred)
    • 8+ years of human resource management experience required (experience in nonprofit sector a plus)
    • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or PGHR certification(s) preferred
    • Passion for Jesus Christ and serving the Lord
    • Proficiency in interpreting federal, state, and local HR policies
    • Familiarity with US payroll principles
    • Experience managing dispersed teams of various sizes and exceptional decision-making skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change

     

     

    We offer a salary range of $125,000-150,000 depending on experience and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and holidays. This role is fully onsite and located in Detroit, MI.
