Job Description: HR Generalist – Operations & Compliance

Position Summary
The HR Generalist – Operations & Compliance supports day-to-day HR operations with a strong focus on onboarding compliance, employee documentation, unemployment coordination, and first-contact HR support. This role helps ensure employees move through required ABA, Medicaid, credentialing, and personnel file requirements accurately, consistently, and on time.
This position works closely with recruiting, onboarding, operations, and the HR Director to maintain audit-ready HR records and support consistent HR processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding Compliance & Tracking
Maintain the new hire onboarding and compliance tracker from offer acceptance through final HR clearance.
Track required HR onboarding and compliance items, including employee documents, I-9 verification, HRIS/ADP onboarding, background checks, required health and safety documentation, credentialing items, staff system setup, required trainings, and new hire orientation.
Monitor onboarding deadlines and follow up with employees, supervisors, and internal team members on missing or incomplete items.
Confirm required documents are saved accurately in the personnel file.
Prepare onboarding status updates for the HR Director.
Escalate delayed, missing, incomplete, or high-risk clearance items before start date approval.
HR Operations Support
Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee HR questions.
Support employee record updates in ADP/HRIS and internal HR trackers.
Assist with employee changes, offboarding checklists, compliance reminders, and HR forms.
Maintain HR SOPs, checklists, trackers, and process documents.
Support routine HR audits and personnel file reviews.
Unemployment & Documentation
Coordinate unemployment claim intake, deadlines, fact gathering, and documentation.
Gather relevant records, including attendance, corrective actions, resignation notices, termination documentation, and employee communications.
Draft unemployment response summaries for HR Director review.
Maintain unemployment files and claim tracking.
Compliance & Escalation
Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
Follow HR escalation procedures consistently.
Escalate employee relations concerns, investigations, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage/hour concerns, discipline, and termination matters to the HR Director.
Support consistent, compliant HR practices across teams and locations.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of HR, onboarding, compliance, credentialing, healthcare administration, or related administrative experience.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow up consistently.
Experience handling confidential employee information.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, spreadsheets, HRIS systems, and shared trackers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in ABA, behavioral health, healthcare, Medicaid-funded services, or credentialing.
Experience with ADP.
Familiarity with I-9 documentation, personnel files, unemployment claims, background checks, or compliance audits.
aPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR coursework preferred but not required.
