    Job Brief

    The primary responsibilities of the HR Generalist include recruiting, onboarding, payroll, 401k, and supporting the culture build of the Surplus City team. Secondary responsibilities are audit support, project management support across the organization, and 1:1 meetings with various managers and supervisors. This role interfaces significantly with WorkSmart, our cPEO, to take advantage of training resources and other benefits, payroll, and HR resources as needed. The position is in-person with some remote flexibility as needed, and must travel to various locations, so reliable transportation and a willingness to be in varying conditions is important.

    Responsibilities

    • Partners with external cPEO WorkSmart for biweekly payroll and timeclock management
    • Engages with hiring managers to understand staffing needs to recruit for specific skills and experience needed for each role
    • Partners with external IT agency for onboarding new hires into systems as well as IT procurement
    • Teaches new leaders how to utilize the training modules available through WorkSmart
    • Interfaces with temporary agencies to support our needs and assignments
    • Manages the new employee experience including onboarding, benefits applications, and ensuring compliance with employment eligibility verification
    • Supports the leadership team by deploying and managing employee survey and other projects as requested
    • Provides generalist support including assistance with frontline employee inquiries, employee relations matters, and team building
    • Assist leadership team with a variety of support, including audit support (document procurement), project management/coordination, and other responsibilities
    • Other tasks as assigned

    ** Requirements & Qualifications**

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related discipline is preferred
    • 2+ years experience in Human Resources
    • Strong PC skills (MS Suite), including proficiency in Excel
    • Fundamental knowledge of employment law required
    • Experience developing collaborative partnerships at all levels of an organization, and documenting HR best practices
    • Excellent communication, internal customer service, and organizational skills
    • Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to work independently and drive for results with minimal direct supervision

    • Work on a computer for extended periods of time
    • Read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently
