    The Role

We are seeking an experienced HR Operations & Payroll Manager to oversee payroll, benefits, and people operations for a multi-state workforce. This dual-function leader will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and service excellence across every stage of the employee lifecycle.

You’ll lead a small team of HR and Payroll professionals, manage the company’s HRIS and payroll systems, and serve as a key advisor to leadership — bringing insight, structure, and accountability as we continue to grow.

    What You’ll Do

    Payroll (Primary Focus):

    • Oversee end-to-end weekly payroll for ~250 nonexempt employees across multiple states.

    • Review, audit, and input payroll data accurately and on time, including commissions and special pay scenarios.

    • Handle year-end reporting (W-2s, 401(k), taxes, ACA, EEO-1, etc.) and ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements.

    • Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies with professionalism and accuracy.

    • Monitor regulatory updates and drive necessary process and system changes.

    HR Operations:

    • Manage employee onboarding, including background checks, I-9 compliance, and new-hire orientation.

    • Maintain accurate employee data across HR systems; establish quality control and audit processes.

    • Partner with leadership to analyze workforce data, produce KPI dashboards, and provide insights for decision-making.

    • Oversee benefits administration, vendor coordination, and reconciliations.

    • Lead, coach, and develop HR/Payroll team members, fostering a culture of service and accountability.

    What You’ll Bring

    • 6+ years of combined HR and/or Payroll experience, including 3+ years managing multi-state payroll or shared services operations.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.

    • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivots, macros, large-volume data analysis).

    • Proven experience implementing and managing HRIS/Payroll systems and improving process efficiency.

    • Strong grasp of employment and payroll compliance at both state and federal levels.

    • Project management experience — from systems rollouts to process design.

  • Compensation
    $105,000 per year
