G.E.C. Inc. is in need of a Professional Civil Engineer to join their team as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will be local to the Greater Baton Rouge or surrounding areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curricula, advanced degree a plus
• PE Registration in the State of Louisiana or ability to gain through reciprocity in a timely manner
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Professional Engineer

JOB PREREQUISITES:

• Project Management
• Knowledge in AASHTO “A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets”
• Proficient in computer aided design and drafting, spreadsheets and word processing programs
• Proficient in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable design codes and client's standards
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Strong verbal, written and organizational skills

APLUS experience in the following (but not required):

• Road design experiences with Louisiana DOTD
• Design experiences with storm water drainage and sanitary sewer systems
• Experience with Microstation
• Experience with Inroads

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. Utilizing engineering and CAD software to provide designs for road, drainage and other civil project plans and specifications
2. Interpreting surveys to incorporate into plans
3. Project management for all phases of design work from inception to final acceptance
4. Manage projects to ensure efficient personnel utilization and on time delivery
5. Develop project engineering fees and negotiate engineering contract scope of work
6. Performing project cost estimating
7. Performing QA/QC on designs and drafting work of others. Review of design calculations, shop drawings and other submittals, proposals, requests for information and change orders.
8. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
9. Mentor less experienced staff
10. Assisting in any duties required to deliver a quality product on schedule and within budget
