Bardes Plastics is on the lookout for a skilled Thermoform Tooling Technician to join our dedicated team.     Job Function:

    • Assemble and disassemble existing and new production tooling
    • Coordinate work duties with production scheduling and tool room scheduling
    • Coordinate the physical storage of tooling and maintain an electronic inventory of all tooling components
    • Inspect tooling for defects and damage and perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, die sharpening, and minor repairs as needed
    • Maintain an inventory of commonly used hardware items
    • Using proper forms, submit to the tooling department requests for major repairs or replacements of tooling components
    • Follows safe work practices and wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) when operating powered hand tools and tool room machines such as vertical milling machines, drill press, band saw, and other machinery used to perform work
    • Use a variety of precision measuring devices to verify accuracy or work
    • Assist tooling department with producing prototype samples for customers as needed.
    • Maintain forklift truck certification
    • Complete and submit to tooling department supervisor all required documents, reports, forms, and other required paperwork
    • Maintain a clean work area and follow all cleaning and housekeeping procedures
    • Comply with all Company worker safety and food safety policies, and work rules

    Basic requirements:

    • Ability to work on his/her own with minimal supervision
    • Must be adaptable to changes in production schedule
    • Ability to communicate effectively with tooling department workers, supervisors, and with other employees of the Company
    • Possess mechanical aptitude for identifying hardware sizes including bolt sizes and thread sizes
    • Ability to perform drilling and tapping operations and the ability to install Heli-Coil thread repair hardware
    • Able to safely operate a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools including tool room machine tools such as vertical milling machines, drill press, bandsaw, and other machinery required to perform work tasks
    • Ability to use and interpret precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, and rulers
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
    • Requires basic computer skills and the ability to look up scheduling, produce written reports, and enter data onto a common spreadsheet program
    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
