The Role
We’re looking for an experienced HRIS / Payroll Specialist to own and optimize our HR systems and payroll operations. This role will manage employee data, payroll, and compliance for a multi-state workforce, including Illinois, New York City, California, and Texas, while driving process improvements and system efficiencies.
You’ll partner closely with Recruiting, Operations, and Finance to ensure a seamless employee experience from hiring through offboarding.
What You’ll Do
HRIS & Systems Management
Serve as the primary administrator for Rippling, maintaining accurate employee records and system configurations.
Build and manage automated workflows supporting onboarding, offboarding, role changes, and compensation updates.
Maintain HR documentation and system process controls.
Payroll & Multi-State Workforce Management
Process weekly payroll for employees across IL, NYC, CA, and TX, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Manage payroll reconciliations, tax filings, wage reporting, and garnishments across multiple jurisdictions.
Serve as a key point of contact for payroll and HRIS questions for employees in all managed states.
Process Improvement & Hiring Support
Streamline hiring, offer, and onboarding processes in partnership with recruiting and operations teams.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity across HR operations.
Create and maintain reports and dashboards to support leadership and compliance needs.
Compliance & Support
Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws impacting employees in IL, NYC, CA, and TX.
Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and compliant HR practices across all locations.
What We’re Looking For
1-3+ years of HRIS and payroll experience managing a multi-state employee population.
Hands-on experience administering Rippling.
Working knowledge of state and local payroll and employment requirements, especially in CA, NYC, IL, and TX.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities.
Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, growing organization.
