Under the direction of the Sales Manager, this position has constant contact with the Sales Engineers and Installation personnel to receive/download design and communicate requirements and results. This position has frequent contact with customers, requiring reasonable, tact, and strong verbal/written communication. Responsibilities Essential Functions ▪ HVAC design and engineering ▪ Drafting and blueprint reading ▪ Knowledge of local, national, and state codes ▪ Equipment, duct, and piping selections ▪ Computer operation ▪ Communicating with inside and outside customers regarding equipment design, installation, and operations of HVAC systems and controls for the design/build, negotiation, add on, and replacement markets ▪ Sizing of heating and cooling loads for selection of equipment and distribution systems ▪ Estimating and pricing of equipment, materials, labor, and subcontractors, etc. ▪ Drafting CAD for adding designs of equipment, duct, and pipe layout ▪ Working with registered engineers and inspectors for design approvals ▪ Detailed office procedures to assure proper flow from system design through purchasing, installation, pricing, and job costing ▪ Work with salespeople on installation projects involving system design, equipment selection, heat loads, energy analysis, CAD, making job folders, ordering, expediting, and checking in on equipment. ▪ Working with the Operation Manager, Installation crew, and subcontractors to assure that the project is going smoothly ▪ Answering questions, giving PO numbers to the installers, calling for inspections, and following the complete project through the final OEM packet ▪ Proposal presentations when needed Basic Functions/Requirements ▪ Answering Phones ▪ Present professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers and co-workers ▪ Observe additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report to the appropriate people ▪ Assist existing engineering team with conceptual and final commercial/industrial HVAC mechanical designs ▪ Project Management of assigned projects to ensure is completed on time ▪ Estimate project costs including equipment, materials, and installation labor ▪ Assist Account Managers with the clients and field personnel in all aspects of HVAC Mechanical Design ▪ Work independently and as a contributing team member as needed Education and Training ▪ A Bachelor's or Associates degree in HVAC/R Engineering ▪ Five or more years of experience in commercial/industrial HVAC design ▪ Five or more years of project estimating and project management experience ▪ Experience with Auto CAD or similar design software is a plus Physical Requirements ▪ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs ▪ Climbing ladders, stairs, etc. ▪ Operate a motorized vehicle ▪ Extended period times of walking ▪ Exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materials with proper PPD's ▪ Hearing and speaking to exchange information ▪ Bending, kneeling, or crouching to accomplish different tasks ▪ Seeing for computer data entry ▪ Speak and write legible English Other Expected Duties and Responsibilities ▪ Performs other duties as assigned by Management Company Description HRU Technical Resources is a Technical Recruiting and Staffing Company.
