  • Responsibilities

    CNC Machinist – Level 3

    PAY IS DEPENDENT UPON EXPERIENCE

    $4 Night Shift Premium

    WORK HOURS: 5:15pm – 5am, Mon -Fri nights

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage time efficiently and continually improve personal work ethic.

    • Work with cross-functional team to complete projects on time while meeting planned budget.

    • Set up and operate a number of different computerized numerical controlled machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill press.

    • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers and other gauges.

    • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

    • Stop machine to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequence.

    • Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules, using computer network links.

    • Ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.

    • Setup and operate computer controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic workpieces.

    • Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished workpiece dimensions, or numerical control sequences.

    • Listen to machine during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problem.

    • Develop less experienced CNC Machinist through on the job training as necessary.

    • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

    • Read and interpret blueprints as well as 3D CAD models.

    • Program machines on the shop floor when needed.

    • Optimize speeds, feeds, and rate of material removal for various materials and cutting conditions.

    • Perform all duties in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Intermediate programming skills

    • Intermediate to expert machining experience.

    • Intermediate to expert proficiency using hand and power tools.

    • Intermediate to expert proficiency calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, dial operators, and dial indicators, etc.

    • Associates degree from an accredited community college or vocational school is highly preferred but not required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 50lbs or heavier.

    You should be proficient in:

    • G-Code
    • M-Code
    • CAD/CAM

    SALARY INFO:

    $18 - $30 / HR
