CNC Machinist – Level 3
PAY IS DEPENDENT UPON EXPERIENCE
$4 Night Shift Premium
WORK HOURS: 5:15pm – 5am, Mon -Fri nights
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage time efficiently and continually improve personal work ethic.
Work with cross-functional team to complete projects on time while meeting planned budget.
Set up and operate a number of different computerized numerical controlled machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill press.
Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers and other gauges.
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Stop machine to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequence.
Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules, using computer network links.
Ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
Setup and operate computer controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic workpieces.
Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished workpiece dimensions, or numerical control sequences.
Listen to machine during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problem.
Develop less experienced CNC Machinist through on the job training as necessary.
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Read and interpret blueprints as well as 3D CAD models.
Program machines on the shop floor when needed.
Optimize speeds, feeds, and rate of material removal for various materials and cutting conditions.
Perform all duties in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Intermediate programming skills
Intermediate to expert machining experience.
Intermediate to expert proficiency using hand and power tools.
Intermediate to expert proficiency calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, dial operators, and dial indicators, etc.
Associates degree from an accredited community college or vocational school is highly preferred but not required.
