We are currently assisting our client with their search for a STRATEGY & OPERATIONS MANAGER - SCIENCES on their Climate and Clean Energy Team. _Our client's mission is to lead the world to a sustainable future by supporting cutting-edge research and development; investing in companies with game-changing climate technologies into scalable and transformative solutions; and advocating for policies that speed innovation from lab to market. _ DURATION: FTE LOCATION: Seattle, WA TRAVEL: Limited, approx 3-4 times per year domestically Must be able to pass a very extensive background investigation OVERVIEW We are searching for a Strategy & Operations Manager to support the client's Sciences Team. This role will support Sciences Team leadership in managing the overall strategy and operations for the program. The primary functions will be to inform strategic decision making, manage planning and prioritization systems for the program, and ensure proper coordination within the team and between the broader organization.  RESPONSIBILITIES

    • SUPPORT PROGRAM LEADERSHIP. The Strategy & Operations Manager will support  leadership in strategic decision making. The role will involve preparation of materials to inform the overall program strategy and facilitation of regular touch points for strategic review. The position will also help manage program priorities and ensure resources (financial and human resources) are being efficiently deployed.
    • PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND MEASUREMENT. The Strategy & Operations Manager will direct overall project management. That will include managing program timelines, establishing and tracking key milestones, maintaining systems for programmatic measurement and learning, and coordinating with team members and consultants to meet deadlines.
    • TEAM COMMUNICATION. The Strategy & Operations Manager will ensure smooth communication across the team. That will involve regular touchpoints with leadership and other workstream leads. This position will help manage team workflow (email communication and meetings) to ensure team members have proper visibility into relevant components of organizational goals and ongoing projects.
    • COORDINATION. The Strategy & Operations Manager will oversee coordination across the organization, partnering closely with the Chief of Staff team and other Strategy & Operations Managers in the organization. This role will also be either the main point of contact or close point of contact (depending on case) between crosscutting functions, including communications, legal, HR, and finance.
    • EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS. The Strategy & Operations Manager will help manage external relationships with key partners.

    • Strong work tenure with around 5-8 years of relevant experience.
    • Must have a proven track record of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, requiring attention to detail while maintaining focus on a broader mission and strategy.
    • General knowledge in clean energy and climate change, including experience addressing decarbonization challenges.
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to synthesize complex information and make clear recommendations.
    • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations, remaining proactive and able to anticipate and address problems before they occur.
    • Ability to provide strategic thought partnership to the leadership team while remaining hands-on with the day-to-day tactical processes of the department.
    • High integrity and sound judgment; able to use discretion with communications and confidentiality of all information.
    • Able to work very well independently, and able to disseminate information clearly and concisely.
    • Available to travel occasionally.
    • Must be able to pass Background Investigation including criminal, public records, and credit checks.
    • Familiarity with agile project management, preferred but not required.
    • Experience working with software developers and engineers, preferred but not required.
    • Work experience in energy industry, such as utilities/ISOs, energy consulting firms, regulatory agencies (FERC/NERC), preferred but not required.

    SKILLS:

    • Expertise in Excel and PowerPoint; proficient in using MS Outlook, Word, and OneNote
    • Experience with project management and facilitation
