About the Firm:
HUSarchitecture is looking for a full time Facility Assessor to join our team of experts exploring how to better build sustainable community through collaboration. We are a small architecture firm in Pilsen working to make an impact on Chicago’s community through improvements to public agency and multi-family housing.
About the Position:
The Facility Assessor engages with the build environment to evaluate clients’ spaces against codes and standards to help achieve the client’s goal of creating inclusive spaces that best serve the community.
The ideal candidate for this position has architectural or building experience through school or work, can independently manage assignments, and is a proactive problem solver who enjoys finding solutions.
This role is for you if you have a passion for helping to make the community a better place for everyone, enjoy using your communication skills to ensure understanding and share ideas, and like to take the lead while effectively collaborating with clients and team members.
Job Details:
Executes the assessment process, using provided checklists, software, and tools to evaluate how spaces do and do not meet provided codes and standards
Takes photographs throughout site visits to document findings
Prepares reports, including visual documents and drawings, to present evaluation findings
Develops architectural solutions in drawing and written form to show how to modify spaces to meet codes and standards
Works with contacts to help coordinate site visits and access needs based on site operating hours
Arrives at all site visits on time and completes tasks within the allotted time for the site visit
Shows respect to space occupants by being courteous and minimizing occupant impact while meeting all evaluation requirements
Manages and organizes large amounts of data and photographs with high accuracy
Operates independently to complete assignments
Collaborates with the Facility Assessor Team to ensure overall project success
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Professional degree or work experience in the architectural or building industry (Required)
Experience with accessibility or sustainability-focused projects (Preferred)
Comfort navigating different codes
Ability to use and learn new software and tech equipment
Strong familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit
Ability to independently navigate the unexpected
Ability to travel throughout the greater Chicago area for site visits
Reliable transportation for site visits
Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (4+ hours), ability to crouch, bend, and kneel
Ability to pass a background check
Position Structure
Full-time position
40 hours per week with daily start and end times varying based on the scheduling of site visits
Hybrid role – On-site work at client locations is required. Non-site work can be remote, in office, or a combination.
