Field Service Technician — HVAC & Biomedical Systems

The Role**
Hands-on hybrid role combining HVAC/refrigeration and biomedical equipment servicing at client sites across the Virginia Beach region. You'll perform preventive maintenance, repairs, calibration, and compliance inspections in regulated healthcare, pharmaceutical, and research facilities. **
What You'll Do**
** Biomedical Equipment & Calibration**
- Calibrate and maintain biological safety cabinets (BSCs), autoclaves, incubators, centrifuges, fume hoods, and sterilizers
- Conduct OEM inspections per AAAASF, AAAHC, CLIA, CMS, Joint Commission, and NFPA-99 standards
- Perform OQ/PQ testing per FDA and cGMP requirements
- Calibrate temperature loggers, particle counters, pressure gauges, and humidity sensors
- Certify BSCs per NSF/ANSI 49; test medical gas systems and emergency power systems
**** HVAC & Refrigeration
****- Service and repair HVAC systems, air handling units (AHUs), HEPA filtration, and cleanroom environmental controls
- Troubleshoot medical-grade refrigeration including ULT freezers, pharmacy refrigerators, blood bank units, and vaccine storage
- Perform HEPA filter integrity testing (DOP/PAO), airflow balancing, differential pressure testing, and smoke studies
- Service BAS, VAV systems, and temperature/humidity controls; maintain refrigerant systems per EPA 608
Documentation & Client Interaction
- Generate service reports, calibration certificates, and compliance records to audit standards
- Serve as on-site point of contact for clients; communicate findings and recommendations
- Identify service expansion opportunities and coordinate with sales and customer success teams **
What You Bring** **
Required:**
- 2–3 years in HVAC/refrigeration, biomedical equipment maintenance, or both
- Associate's degree or technical diploma in HVAC, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or related field (military training accepted) **
Preferred:**
- EPA 608 Universal Certification (or obtain within 90 days)
- Experience with medical-grade refrigeration or laboratory cold storage
- Familiarity with Joint Commission, ISO 14644, cGMP, or FDA regulated environments
- HEPA filter testing or BSC certification experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills across HVAC, refrigeration, and biomedical systems
- Proficient with multimeters, manometers, refrigerant gauges, and calibration instruments
- Valid driver's license; able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders and rooftops **
