    HVAC Controls Technician (BAS / DDC) – Entry to Mid-Level

    Jacksonville, FL

    W.W. Gay Mechanical Controls & Integration is looking for a motivated HVAC Controls Technician with 1–2 years of experience who wants to grow into a strong, well-rounded BAS professional.

    If you’ve worked with DDC controls, understand HVAC basics, and want hands-on experience with modern BAS systems alongside senior technicians, this is a great next step in your career.

    What You’ll Learn & Work With

    Tridium Niagara AX / N4

    Honeywell WEBs

    KMC Controls

    JCI FX

    (You are not expected to be an expert — training and mentoring are provided.)

    What You’ll Be Responsible For

    Under the guidance of senior technicians and project managers, you will:

    Assist with installation, wiring, and termination of HVAC control systems

    Load programs, make basic programming changes, and verify point-to-point operation

    Support system start-up and functional testing

    Help verify sequences of operation in the field

    Assist with graphics setup and basic front-end navigation

    Troubleshoot basic control and communication issues

    Maintain checkout sheets and assist with as-built documentation

    Follow company safety standards and job site procedures

    What You Should Already Be Comfortable With

    To be successful in this role, you should be able to:

    Understand basic HVAC systems (AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, fans, pumps)

    Read wiring diagrams and control drawings

    Use a laptop to connect to controllers and BAS systems

    Perform point checks and basic troubleshooting

    Communicate clearly with senior technicians and supervisors

    Work independently on assigned tasks after direction is given

    What Success Looks Like

    Within your first 6–12 months, you’ll be able to:

    Complete control device installations with minimal supervision

    Perform reliable point-to-point checks

    Make basic programming and sequence adjustments

    Assist in system commissioning and troubleshooting

    Progress toward a Senior Controls Technician role

    Requirements

    1–2 years of experience in HVAC, DDC, or BAS controls

    Basic understanding of electrical systems and low-voltage wiring

    Familiarity with BAS software or control interfaces

    Organized, reliable, and eager to learn

    Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
