Identify Electrical Load Growth: Analyze and calculate the anticipated electrical load growth resulting from the installation of new cooling and heating units in classrooms currently equipped with heating-only furnaces.
Determine Service Upgrade Needs: Based on load calculations and current service capacity, accurately identify which school sites require an electrical service upgrade from the utility provider.
Specify Upgrade Capacity: Determine and document the required upgraded electrical service capacity for each affected site.
Documentation Review: Review existing site plans, electrical schematics, utility service records, and project documentation pertinent to electrical and HVAC systems.
Report Generation: Compile clear, comprehensive reports detailing findings, load calculations, recommended service upgrades, and required capacities for each site to accommodate the HVAC upgrades..
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Facilities, Maintenance, and Capital Projects staff to ensure accurate data collection and project alignment.
Qualifications
Proven Expertise: Demonstrated professional experience in electrical systems (service capacity, load calculations, and infrastructure) and commercial HVAC systems (installation, operation, and maintenance).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and utility requirements for commercial electrical service upgrades.
Analytical Skills: Ability to accurately perform electrical load calculations for large institutional buildings.
Physical Ability: Must be able to conduct site walks, navigate school campuses, and access facility areas (e.g., roofs, electrical rooms, mechanical areas).
