    Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, Inc. (HabiJax) is currently seeking a Construction Superintendent who has a heart for helping families in need of a hand up to build or improve a place they can call home. HabiJax is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit housing organization seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build safe affordable homes, communities, and hope.

    Job Summary:

    The Construction Superintendent works with the Construction Director to provide leadership for the affiliate’s new construction and rehabilitation build projects. The Construction Superintendent must be highly organized, motivated, and productive in completing home build projects in a quality, timely, and safe manner while staying within budget. This position is responsible for communicating and modeling the mission, vision, and values of Habitat for Humanity, and directly supervising all aspects of a build site to accomplish established goals.

    Work Schedule:

    This is a full-time position. The standard hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7am-4pm.

    Work Location:

    This position is based out of our Main Office at 2404 Hubbard Street in Jacksonville, Florida and works in the Jacksonville area.

    Annual Salary:

    The starting annual salary for this position is $50,000 to $65,000 per year commensurate with experience.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute the building of quality homes from development through final construction in a timely, safe, and economical manner. Anticipate and identify project issues and risks.
    • Monitor the activities of all construction workers on the construction site. Ensure job sites are kept clean and free of unnecessary hazards.
    • Train, direct, and supervise Construction team members, volunteers, homebuyers, and subcontractors to successfully complete each build within a defined schedule and budget.
    • Oversee the scheduling, delivery & use of materials, the quality of construction, worker productivity & compliance with building/safety codes.
    • Schedule and manage subcontractors and suppliers in order to build homes on schedule and on time. Manage and inspect the quality of work that is performed by subcontractors.
    • Coordinate with Family and Community Engagement Team Members, Construction Team Members, and Volunteer Team Leaders for adequate organization and supervision of volunteers.
    • Review contract requirements, general conditions, schedules, budgets, subcontracts and purchase order agreements. Ensure work performed by crews and subcontractors adhere to contract documents.
    • Create punch lists to ensure prompt completion of projects. Ensure all construction related closing requirements are met. Implement and ensure compliance with project quality control processes.
    • Manage compliance of construction activities with OSHA, EPA, Florida and Duval County building codes, ordinances, and regulatory statutes.
    • Maintain positive relationships with HabiJax team members, homebuyers, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors and inspectors.
    • Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports as required.
    • Be aware of and advocate for the mission, vision, and values of HabiJax and Habitat for Humanity.
    • Perform additional duties as required and directed.

    Education, Experience, and Job Requirements:

    • 2 year degree or equivalent experience in a directly related field
    • Minimum of 4 years residential home construction worksite management and scheduling experience
    • Multi-family construction experience a plus
    • Demonstrated ability to supervise effectively at all levels & with a variety of personalities
    • Manage time effectively, multi-task & prioritize in order to meet established goals & deadlines
    • Computer proficiency to include the use of Microsoft Office software applications
    • Decisive, flexible & work well under pressure when faced with unexpected situations or delays
    • Can analyze & resolve problems. Excellent organizational, leadership & communication skills
    • Attention to detail and persistence in follow up; Strong sense of urgency
    • Knowledge of construction practices and terminology. Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction documents
    • Understand contracts, plans, construction methods & regulations
    • Valid Driver’s License insurable by HabiJax’s insurance carrier
    • Able to successfully pass a background and drug screening
