    Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, Inc. (HabiJax) is currently seeking a VOLUNTEER FIELD COORDINATOR who has a heart for helping families and individuals in need of a hand up to build or improve a place they can call home. HabiJax is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit housing organization seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Volunteer Field Coordinator assists in the planning and coordination of volunteer opportunities on the HabiJax construction worksites. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds, strong time management and organizational skills, and a commitment to HabiJax’s mission, vision and values.

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    This is a full-time position. The standard hours for this position are Tuesday through Saturday 7am-4pm.

    WORK LOCATION:

    This position is based out of our Main Office at 2404 Hubbard Street in Jacksonville, Florida and typically works in the urban core area of Jacksonville.

    PAY RATE:

    The starting pay rate for this position is $16-$18 per hour commensurate with experience.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the successful preparation and completion of all volunteer projects assigned by the Construction Superintendent.
    • Train and monitor Volunteer Team leaders ability to perform each individual volunteer project.
    • Conduct training sessions with Volunteer Leaders on the various construction operations for volunteers.
    • Assist and train Volunteer Leaders in preparation of tool and equipment package associated with assigned construction tasks.
    • Transport or facilitate the transport of tool and equipment packages for construction tasks when necessary.
    • Assist in the management and training of volunteers and homebuyers during construction activities, focusing on quality workmanship and timely completion utilizing checklists for accuracy.
    • Maintain a positive working environment for construction volunteer leaders, homebuyers and volunteers to create a satisfying experience for all.
    • Ensure a safe work environment and employ safe work practices on site for and with leaders, volunteers and homebuyers.
    • Maintain all safety equipment, tools, and supplies used by volunteers to ensure all are in good working order, well stocked and up to date.
    • Maintain volunteer tool and equipment areas in the warehouse ensuring tools and supplies are cleaned and returned to their proper storage areas. Advise the Construction Superintendent of items low in stock.
    • Provide appropriate and timely feedback to volunteer leaders, homebuyers and volunteers on work completed or attempted.
    • Provide appropriate and timely feedback to Construction Superintendent on job site readiness, daily completion status, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with department and HabiJax staff.
    • Adhere to HabiJax and Construction department policies and procedures.
    • Be aware of and advocate for the mission, vision, and values of HabiJax and Habitat for Humanity. Perform additional duties as required and directed.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School degree or equivalent experience required
    • 1+ years of experience working in a construction environment preferred
    • First Aid & CPR Certified preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds
    • Ability to manage time and resources effectively to meet established goals & deadlines
    • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
    • Computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and other required software applications
    • Valid Driver’s License insurable by HabiJax’s insurance carrier
    • Ability to successfully pass a background and drug screening
